We put some restrictors in the tailpipes to slow the water down a little so it had time to transfer the heat. Reggie also modified the lead-in right in front of the pickup and lowered the pickup some to give it a little more water. That did the trick. The water temp stayed at 110 and the oil never went above 220. The pickup worked great. There is no bounce or fluctuation in water pressure at any time.
As far as the previous engines failing, well, I'll leave that one alone. Eric and Gavin know all the details of what was found when we took them down. Every builder has their own way of doing things. There is ALMOST always more than one way to get something done. However, there are some things that are just wrong and won't work no matter what. There was some of each going on. I won't get into details because it's not my style. If Eric or Gavin would like to then they have the right. That's up to them.

Hopefully we will learn something from the Seeley's - there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and how to recognize it and adjust for success. It is inspiring to see someone not give up after all the disappointments, and now get to reap the rewards.

It's a good thing Eddie stepped in when he did and got this whole project back on track with the awesome power, and the expert rigging experience. It goes to show the 140 mph Hustler (same power) was not a fluke, and Eddie may just be the King of Horsepower...Speed...(or whatever is catchy and sticks).
CONGRATULATIONS.

Thanks Eddie.

As far as that whole "king" thing Yankey, I cerainly would not go that far. I'm surely nothing special, nor did I do anything special. I did what I was paid to do. At the end of the day, this really isn't that hard. Let's face it, it's not brain surgery or rocket science. As for the Hustler, it certainly was not a fluke. I'm absolutely not bragging or patting myself on the back, but that's how they all turn out. Some take a little longer than others to get there, but eventually they all turn out like that.
I've been lucky enough to be involved in some really cool, higher profile builds. There are a few more in the near future, so stand by for updates. The one that I'm most excited about is a new 30 Skater with over 1100 hp a side. Gonna be a rocket. It will be at the Shootout this year.
Thanks everyone for the kind words. That's what keeps us going.

Congrats on your results! I have been following this thread for a while and had no doubt it would turn out great....what else would you expect when working with the Fountain crew and one of the best engine builders in the country!

Just got back from the lake and an awesome weekend of trouble free boating!!!! We didnt run it to hard as it was very hot and we are still a little timid given our history. However, we made a couple 110-117 MPH passes along with several effortless 100-108 short bursts....it was AWESOME! The boat cruises @ 75 like nothing. Although it takes a little finesse to get it up on plane (we requested it be rigged for top end) once it breaks over...hang on! The boat honestly accelerates the same from 70-80 as it does from 100-110. Eddie told us that we have on average 1000 ft/lbs available between 3500-6000 at all times...and you can really feel it.
R3 is going to send us some 1/2" spacers and we are going to try them and see how the boat likes them. R3 has been texting me all weekend asking how we like the boat...awesome customer service (he said he could of got 2-3 more MPH out of it with another day of tuning). And, I only called Eddie about 27 times on Sat and Sunday with questions...and he answered the phone every single time. Gavin and I are just astounded....as we are just not used to this level of service.
BTW...I have a cell phone video of the run Sr made from 100-122mph. I will post it tomorrow....its pretty sick. I will now drink.....

I'm glad your happy Eric & had a trouble free weekend of boating. It was a pleasure to work with you, your brother & Eddie young. And to know there's another 15 MPH left is awesome. 125 is really impressive & to know its capable of 140 is something nice to look forward to.

I really love great happy endings!
It's really wondeful to see an owner have a difficult and torublesome situation turned around when a team of very knowledgeable and talented people put their heads together and "never say never" and turn what appeared to be a "sows ear into a silk purse"!
Congratulations to the owners for staying the course and congratulations to the Foutains and Mr Young for handing the owners back their "Dream"! Well Done!
Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar
