Lightbulb Depth gauge, where is transducer?on 27

Depth gauge quit reading this weekend on st. clair, could
have been a loose wire from the air rides. Looked under
the motor, cant find transducer. Inspection plate under
back seat is probably for fuel tank. Any help on where to look?
Also have a slight miss at speed,496 magho, Approx. 90 hrs
Any suggestions? thanks,JC

On my 99 27 Fever its under the step down that leads into the cabin. The top of the step is hinged and has a stainless latch that holds it shut. If you lift up the lid there is a small bilge area. On mine there is a small bilge pump and the transducer.

Mines on the blink also after several hours of air rides a few weeks ago. Mine works sometimes and then it quits getting a signal from the transducer. It looks like the gauge on the dash continues to get power so it must be the transducer. I had a spare prop wedged into the small bilge area during the air rides. I figured I damaged the transducer with the prop. Let me know if your simptoms are the same and what you plan to do. On my transducer there are wires going into it but no connections to get loose. The splice must be somewhere else.

Default transducer found

I found it last night while out, inside that
step you speak of, I have an access hole to port
with the transducer in it. It had been epoxyed
to the hull and is broke loose. It also has one of
the ears cracked off which probably doesn't matter
must be for some other mount. I get power because
it says "ft" on the screen but nothing else I checked
wires under the dash and read the manual cant
find anyhting else. What power do you have and how
does it run? I've seen a best of 69 on speedo which
is about one off compared to gps. JC

My transducer is located in the center of the step compartment. I also get the ft on the gauge but nothing else. Mine is still securely mounted to the hull. It works sometimes. I guess its the transducer failing.

I have the 502 EFI. Best top speed has been just past 70 on the Gaffrig Speedo light on fuel, air temp in the low 80's, with me and my wife on board. I just installed my GPS last week and havent run the boat yet to find the true speed. I figure it will GPS at 67-69. I am running a 24" Hydromotive prop. I have a 24" Bravo and a 23 " Mach to try next week. I want to GPS the Hydro first to get a base line and then do the others. Temps are in the mid 90's this time of year so I bet the speeds will be off some from this spring. Ill post the results.

Hey Ron,

How did the prop tests go?

My transducer was mounted in the bilge to the right of the engine. If yours is loose from the epoxy you wont get a reeding even if its working. It must have a seal to the hull with no bubbles either in the epoxy or a "soft" spot in the hull.

I think I read somewhere a while ago that you an put it in a plastic bag full of water and place it aginst the hull and get a reading assuming the boat is in the water.

Von, check out this thread to find out how my weekend went.

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forum/sh...threadid=29192

The boats flushed out and back together but I probably wont get a chance to test props for a few weeks.

Hows your new boat coming? I have been following your thread in the Pantera froum. The boat is impressive!
