Been working on a new fuel system. One with the capability of supporting whipples. Its important not only to achieve your pressure and flow but also maintain it on long pulls. Its recommended to run a 3/4 inch pickups with -12 line to water separator then -12 to pump. Also keeping pump no higher than the tank and also as close as possible. So we will be designing new mounting plates for the water separator and fuel pumps to be mounted on forward bulkhead. This will keep everything close and low. When imco built my tanks I had them use 3/4 inch pickups. When choosing filters make sure they can handle the flow and still achieve your needed micron rating. Then make sure your filter head doesn't restrict you down on flow. I run Caterpillar water separator so we are having to modify a peterson head to work with the filter thread. I'm going to use a Weldon pump. I probably will get this done before this summer so I can try it on my n/a engines.
It's obvious to see that you are doing everything on this boat the right way. Just an awesome build. |
New props on order. Mercury 5 blades. 900hp 17.25 diameter, 31 pitch, 15 rake. Mid February delivery. Hopefully.

New props are here. 17.25 diameter 31 pitch 15 deg rake. Old ones 17 x 30 x 18 |
Those props probably cost more than my whole boat did. Beautiful.

Would like to thank everyone who followed along. The boat went to a new home today. I have some medical issues I'm dealing with so haven't been able to do much with the boat. Maybe Ethan will give updates on it from time to time. Hope you all have a great end of your summer!

Get your health in order....there's always more boats down the road! Thanks for sharing your progress on this beauty!
|
Sorry to hear about the health issues Keith - get well soon!
Where did the boat end up going? I'm disappointed that I never got to see it up close. You did an amazing job with it! Terry Martin |
sorry to hear about the health issues. hope you get everything all straightened out
Tell the new owners to keep us all updated here. Would have loved to own that boat myself. |
As others have said, get your health in order, that’s the most important thing. Whoever the lucky new owner is, they bought a GEM!!!!
One of my favorite boats. |
Thank you for one of the most informative and detailed threads on this forum in a long time. I for one don’t have to patience to take lots of pictures and give detailed updates like this.
Everything else is minuscule compared to one’s health. Can’t blame you for moving on from the boat one bit. Hope you get through whatever you may be dealing with quickly. |
So sorry to hear this news. Hope you get well soon. Thank you for sharing your amazing boat make over. My favorite Fountain!

Would like to take a moment and introduce myself on this thread my name is Ethan Mitchell and I am the new owner of this incredible boat that keith and his son shane have been rebuilding over the years. Never in my wildest dreams imagined that I would one day own the boat that we’ve all been drooling over for years. I was having a boat built new threw an undisclosed company and the deal went south. After that a good friend of mine that’s involved with the lake Champlain poker run contacted me and informed me that the boat may be forsale. I wasted no time and contacted keith and set up arrangements to come check it out on the trailer. Long story short we agreed upon a number that worked for both of us and we shook hands. I added to the agreement that these folks always have first buy back option if I ever decide to sell and they will always have a seat on the boat for lake Champlain poker run. I can’t thank these guys enough for trusting me and giving me the opportunity to own this incredible boat. I will also not let this thread die!!!! STAY TUNED #RAINMAKER

Cool boat!!!! It belonged to friend of mine at LOTO for a Summer or two.
|
Very nice post more photos!

Damn that boat is FINE!!!!

Selling the boat was definitely not in the plans, but unfortunately dealing with lyme the past 4 plus years has made it pretty hard for me to even get in the boat. Thank you for the well wishes, I will definitely get to where I need to be. Ethan is a good guy and he will have a blast with it. Gotta say I'm a bit jealous. This project was successful only because of the amazing people who worked with me, and kept me focused in the right direction. Charlie and Mike from Island Racing, R3, John Teague, Peter and Raymond Roberts, Glass Dave, Dustin Whipple, Mark Wilson,
John Hammond, Dave at CMI and my son Shane. Once again thanks to everyone that was involved im sure im forgetting some, but ill blame that on my lyme fog. Keith |
Get well Keith! Lyme disease sucks.
OK...I'll be the one to ask. What was the asking/selling pricing on that boat?? |
It was a number that worked for both of us
|
Anyone know how many were built

Keith I hope you get well, and kick Lymes butt. I still have the shot of Ethans last boat, yours, and the 47' running like apes out front on the background on my phone. Was one of the best days ever!

In NH and VT we actually dicker with Maple Syrup and Milk LOL |
Boat was on a mission this past weekend at the lake Champlain poker run, It was the lead V by a good stretch. we started picking off the outboard cats till we lost a power steering belt and in return hit the crank position sensor. We didn’t get to finish the run and make it to lunch but we got to shut a lot of mouths and hurt some feelings!
