Must be the blue steering wheel! Going to put on the 34 tomorrow |
Ok tried the 34's. They are 16.5x34 18 rake, spun them 6300 rpm and lost 5 mph. They are 1/2 inch smaller diameter than my 30's my boat definitely doesn't like the smaller diameter. Going to look for some 17x32 18.

any updates?

We have been out enjoying it. Boat runs awesome.
we ended up using both coolers on bell housing for engine oil, moving the trans cooler down to the crossover cooler. so we had a new power steering cooler made to go in line. Works awesome. Will post some pics soon. |
Glad you guys are enjoying it.

KWright......a little off topic here. I see your PR is on a Gooseneck. Whats the overall length of the trailer?

Kick ass! Love seeing this boat used as it should! Congratulations

It was so great after all these years to meet Keith in person and admire this awesome 42PR.
Keith and son have done an incredible job with this boat, it runs as great as it looks !! |

Cp performance mayfair tank they are pretty sweet.

One of our concerns this past summer was low charging voltage. Going over video that we took we hardly saw above 12.5 volts, even at higher rpm. The boat was outfitted with a battery isolator from the factory. Both alternators were wired directly into the isolator them from there off to the 3 batteries. Doing some research I found out that these isolators rob between 1 to 1.5 volts. So we did away with the isolator and wired the alternator up direct. Used a smart solenoid to separate batteries.
results are 13.8 to 14.1 volts to batteries. The smartcraft did throw a low voltage code a few times. So this should solve any issues. |
Getting ready to pull windows to send back to Shields, so they can make us new ones. We will reinstall old ones till we have the boat painted.

Ive got those billet reservoirs in my boat, they are nice quality
|
Awe shucks, you all have me spending some more money now (billet reservoir bottles).
I'm really glad you posted that. I've been looking for a solution to upgrade those reservoirs and had no clue those existed. They also offer a "#6" pump assembly that actually looks reasonable. NOS pump assemblies are going for like $1500!!! With that metal reservoir and the fill location that is very tough to service. You continue to make very tasteful and top notch upgrades on this build. Gotta be one of, if not "the", nicest 42 Poker Runs out there. Awesome speed on NA power, love it!!! You mentioned paint. Leaving it white, or adding some color??? You also mentioned battery isolators. I am fighting a voltage issues also, after reading your post, has me thinking I have something else to check. I run isolators for the radio so that battery is isolated and won't draw on the engine batteries if I am off shore-power. Never thought to check that as a culprit. Learned two new things today because of your posts. thank you much!!! |
Thanks for the kind words. Look up smart solenoid they are an awesome alternative to isolators. Ours were robbing 1 to 1.5 volts. The 525 efi computer does not like low voltage. The plan for the color is a tricoat pearl metal flake white, with the Fountain logo ghosted in.
