Thanks 35,
I did so much at one time that all I know is that its much faster and smoother in the rough...
Did the 850's with the boxes, with the -2 shortie IMCO SC's and the big tabs...picked up about 20mph.
I think that just having the power to move the boat faster made it ride much better in the rough stuff...she flys now.
Then we did the Bmax drives since the IMCO SC's(XR's in different packaging)would wear down gear sets like crazy.
Its a whole new boat to me and im still getting use to it in the different waters.
I don't think I would do the boxes on a step bottom Fountain though.

They worked on this 97' before it met it's tragic death! It was running mid 90's with Merc 600's. I was told it was very hard to dock in a breeze.

Dan,
Is this the boat that ended up on the breakwall
in Chicago one night because the guy was unfamiliar
with the area?
I had spoken to Jeff with the '89 Fountain that has the paint job like my old 35' and he said that he's done Stelling's boxes on a twin step of my vintage('96 42') and it gained 6mph.
He says the newer super ventilated hulls have a larger notched transom and don't benefit as well from boxes.
My boat with staggered is difficult enough to dock in a breeze but 6mph increase..........
Dennis

That was a nice 42....sad.
Timmy ran that one at a Chicago run years back...very fast.
I guess boxes work for those step bottoms also.

The crashed '99 42 went mid to high 80's. It blew drives constantly almost every other time out. I don't know if it was the staggered config or the boxes but that boat was trouble...
