Long Island Sound Funrun??

Greg,
The garage is nothing more than a shop I use, to have my boat made better and kept healthy. THere are some cool boats there and often some fun people to hang with. It's a part of my world. The guy that has the shop has worked at Performance, MRD etc. He knows Richie Zull and others. One of the Fountains that is currently there is the 98 and 99 APBA National Champ. The guy who owns it raced with the Regg himself. Sometimes it's dead and at others its not. It's about showing you some of my contacts I guess....
I'll PM you and Gary with more info....

Steve,
Tried a return PM but your mailbox is full. One on Sat. works for me, let's talk on Fri. and firm up the time and directions. Trying to ruin the kids at an early age?
Thanks for the invite, think Gregg would be interested?

Heads up.
- Just got oiff the phone with Ron (SuperBoat) who will call AJ (Formula 353) and Anthony (Sonic 26 ). Most are bringing their other halves and all are stoked for Saturday at 7:00 PM. I am bringing Duncan (24 Baja Outlaw). When we stop by the shop on Sat. we may pick up more. We can also stop by MRD who's shop is also very impressive - just to look...
I think we should have a tide table for the meeting and maybe a few charts to spread out so Gary can show all of us what he has already worked out on his PC. Should be fun. Greg is this back room big enough??? ANd where are you??? Don;t tell me I am going to have to start calling the house??
I am going to start calling THe Casino at Davis. Maybe there is a recording.....

Just PM'd Steve and told him that work issues will prevent me from making the meet on Sat. With that in mind, does anyone have "Mapsource" software for Garmin GPS's on a notebook? If so, let me know and I will send the files for download. It is all pretty simple...start at the Connetquot river and run inside to Moriches inlet then outside to Fire Island inlet and back east to Atlantique (Fire Island). Second route was basically the same except to run further east to Shinnecock inlet and outside westbound to FI inlet. Moriches run is 64.0 statute miles, Shinnecock is 96.1 miles with a considerable nowake zone thru the Hamptons and possible fuel stop at the Shinnecock prior to making the ocean run. Both of these routes can be run in reverse (inside) if the weather is not cooperative.
The nice part is the software shows tides and depths as well as the actual route. Let me know and, again, I am sorry I won't be able to make it.

Gary,
I don't have the software, but will bring pre-marked charts to the meetng to illustrate the routes. Can't really email the route that way, but larger and easier for more people to see. I will have tide info as well. Once the route is nailed down, perhaps I can give you the charts and you can enter the route into Maptech. Assuming that is, that the route had changed. Then the route can be emailed to the Finger Lake boys and anyone else who does have maptech.
We also need to assign the following open issues to willing participants.
1) write up and create maps for directions to and from Long Island/ Hechsher State Park boat ramp.
2) Hotel for out-of-towners - Check variuos local hotels for parking, availability of rooms for 5/15/04, get rates and phone numbers.
3) Resturant for Lunch. Call various rest. to find someone open along the route. Slips that can accomodate us is as important as menu... More...
4) Inform and provide accurate route info to those not in attendance. Answer on going questions as they pertain to the route over the next 11 weeks.
The agends for the meeting is as follows:
1) Have a good time
2) Nail the route down - with backup route
3) List fuel, repair and emergency stops - phone numbers of sea-tow etc.
4) Assign open items (above) to people - Make it known who those people are.
5) Nail the time table - we start when, have lunch when etc.
6) T-shirts??? Pictures??? Other ideas....
Thats all I can think of right now....
