Long Island Sound Funrun??
#112
Ok Here we go..
Our Route meeting started as planned and went without a hitch. I can only tell you based upon the people there, this FunRun may be the best kick off to summer in recent years.
We had 20 people show representing 8 boats and 21 people. 4 other boats and 14 other people have signed up locally. Clearly Gary is in as well. We now total 13 boats and 35 people.
In order to handle resturant and docking issues, we need to once again hear from the rest of you. Remember this is for the 15 of May (16 is the rain date), which IS NOT that far away (less than 12 weekends away!!). So please sound off and PM me with your contact info, Name, phone number, # of boats and # of people. Also tell me if you would want a t-shirt and if so, # and sizes of shirts.
Here's the route ino:
1) We will meet at the entrance to the Connetquot river at 8:30 AM.
2) Head east to Shinecock.
3) Stop at one of two resturants (TBD by Greg FastFountain35) for lunch.
4) Take stock of Ocean conditions, make decision to either head offshore or reverse earlier route.
- If we go Offshore, we will return to the Great South Bay via Democrat Point, head past Fire Island and return to the Hechsher area.
At that point we might choose to stop at Fire Island or wrap it up. Maybe dinner at Tequila Jacks??? How about Flynn's?
Seatow phone numbers/Hotels/Fuel stops etc. will be provided by me in the near future.
Directions for the Finger Lake boyz and other out of towners will also be provided. I am hoping Gary picks this up, but rest assured it will be done.
The Drivers meeting has been set for May 14th at 7:30 at the Sonoma Grill. The owner Ed provided great service and the food was nothing short of excellant. We were treated very very well. Thank's Greg and thanks Ed......

Sounds like all bases were covered and then some! I will take care of all overland directions and hotel recommendations. In addition, I will be at the launch site as early as possible to assist anyone who is trailering in. After launching and forming up, I will lead the gang around to the connetquot start point and we will all pick it up from there...sounds pretty good all around!
At the route meeting did anybody get a count with regard to who will be using Heckshire to launch vs. folks who will be arriving by water? I would like to get an idea of how many I will be coordinating and get cell numbers, etc.
I do have two questions/inquiries...Greg - parking for that many boats at the lunch stop and the terminus (Tequila's's / Flynn's) - possible fuel stop en-route (Shinnecock has two fueling areas just prior to entering the ocean run).
13 boats and counting...

Greg-
Had the same thought you did about the misleading name (at this point at least). I think a couple of people were a bit miffed at the venue change but I am still hoping that Tricky919 will pickup on the North Shore run at some point...we'll see. I tried to change the thread name just for grins but no luck...just changed the name of the first post and not the leader. I think Steve has it right...does it matter? I am pretty sure that everyone familiar with it knows the deal by now. Talk to you soon.
