Long Island Sound Funrun??

Of course the weather plays a part! We will also re-evaluate anything decided the night before that morning. There is no way anyone should be put at risk. This is a fun run not a death run. We are all responsible here....

Ocean running,Im not afraid, just tryin to stay alive, looking for that big cheese burger at shinecock!! Yes Nolimits that is the way we go,out jones or rockaway, but going into 4 to 5 footers is alot different than having them at you transom at a 45 degree angle for 25 miles. Don't get me wrong,i like oceanrunning and we could make it faster running in the bay to moriches inlet ,then we could decide if we as a group want to go outside, but i'm quite sure some of the smaller boats will go inside all the way. I can tell you one thing,i was goin to NYC one early afternoon, into a 25 to 30 mph headwind =8 footers,I will not do that again
So dont let me rain on this event so lets go boating Tripps

I still am in the same place. If the weather/wind/waves are not accomodating then we go inside. If some folks thinks it's fine and others don't then we will split up. There are enough folks for all to follow, no one will get lost. Each captain must decide what works based upon experience, size and design of vessel. There is NO pressure and no shame.
I like Moriches Inlet, but with this group I would stay away from it. Not enough people have experience with it and it is not intuitively obvious. Also not marked in places.
We'll be just fine....

I've passed the word at Mark Schnepf's shop in Patchogue yesterday. Expect some Activators to join the fun also. We might even bring some of our Super Vee Light rigs. These are closed canopy boats, and with those, we don't care where the route is going.
Tripps has a point, though. Since we are starting at Hecksher, going back to the FI Inlet is long and tedious.
Moriches isn't that complicated, especially at high tide. Take the Eastern fork and stay close to the Eastern seawall ....

I went to my trusted C-Map data.
Heckscher Park - Democrat Point - Moriches Ocean Buoy: 49 miles
Heckscher Park - GSB - Moriches Inlet - Ocean Buoy : 25 miles.
And here is the preferred route through Moriches. Easy. Just tag along the seawall.
