I don't know where you are going with what you are asking, but I will advise you not to go the wrong direction.
and if Bob is reading this I would love to go for a ride with you if you ever have an open seat. and you are welcome to throttle my boat any time you want. ( you may want turbo motors if you ever throttle my boat tho)

I can only express my condolences to you and your family. I feel you have a very compassionate and sympathetic view and understand the guilt the driver of the boat is putting himself through. Many families will have to find a way to heal the wounds which are deep.
I will post here a poem I hope is appropriate, it was written for a fellow OSO'er who died tragically also:
A Poem of Remembrance
Remember me for I am gone, but not from your thoughts
Or prayers,
Spill now the tears for a while, they cleanse the soul
And bring hope for the new day,
My thoughts and deeds are best remembered for me, as are
My thoughts of you,
Words alone do not mark our lives in the present but in the days to
come as well,
Remember me as your day’s journey begins and ends, but fear not for
I am watching,
I await our reunion, and the days thereafter. Until then live as I have lived and remember me.
Godspeed to all.

I would like to post something that I think is appropriate too.
We read it at the service of any member of my yacht club who passes.
Even though it describes a sailing ship... I like the analogy. When this was read at the funeral of a friend, it gave me some comfort.
I hope that it gives some others a little comfort, too.
I Am Standing On The Sea Shore
Bishop Brent
I am standing on the sea shore,
A ship sails in the morning breeze and starts for the ocean.
She is an object of beauty and I stand watching her Till at last she fades on the horizon and someone at my side says:
"She is gone." Gone! Where? Gone from my sight - that is all.
She is just as large in the masts, hull and spars as she was when I saw her And just as able to bear her load of living freight to its destination.
The diminished size and total loss of sight is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says,
"She is gone", There are others who are watching her coming, and other voices take up a glad shout:
"There she comes" - and that is dying.
A horizon is just the limit of our sight...
