I only have ProMax 200's on my boat, so if I make it to 100 I'll be really happy. I am waiting on somemore props to try, it went 93 with 4 guys turnin 15x30 at 7000. I have been told to try 14.5x32 whish should drop my rpms and gain some speed, but I have alot more tinkering to do if I want to go 100.

Airpacker:--- The Aronow 39 Cat was a 39 cigarette cut in half lengthwise, likewise the 28, and the 24 would have to have been a split 24 magnum hull....see my comments on "world's worst cats" above somewhere in this string.......

Question to T2x;
Please comment on the aluminum Cougar cats 38' by 11' 8" wide. Made in England, circa mid 1980's.
Respond regarding ride, weight, power requiremints, potential for cracking, suitable outdrives, e.g., Arneson.

Screamindemon... I appreciate your optimisim. The guys at Skater are a great bunch of people and I am not sure as to whether anyone would ever catch up to them at that level. I do think that there is room for everyone in this market. We do have more than a passing interest in pursuing this endeavor, which means that it will take a period of time, money, good teams, and customers, of course. But, we're gonna try! We'll take it slowly, and we'll need a lot of moral support. Thanks again!

The more hours on them the more dents and warpage in the hull ... the slower the top speed. The best version was Sal Magluta's "tubular" framed 36 footer circa 1986 ...faster and lighter than any of the others... it still couldn't catch the early composite boats of the time. They were , however, decent in medium/rough conditions.... one of them (Still Crazy) stuffed and sank (almost instantly) with Fullam and Poppa, on board , killing both of them, at Key West in 1985. Later Bob Kaiser had some success with a pair of Cougars in the late 80's but their time had pretty much passed after that. The only success they achieved in the 90's was under the able hand of the builders son, Stevie Curtis, and even he abandoned them for composite cats in later years.
As far as the Arneson drive is concerned....use a Mercruiser 6 drive instead...unless you're Howard Arneson. Basically, the drive either needs to be fixed with a separate rudder(in which case Buzzi's drive is better), or you won't be able to trim nor stay in a straight line, which makes it a dangerous and troublesome option...... (P.S. Forget about docking with the damn things)

Very good, I thought you had 2.5 OS's. 200 Promax good motors, do you have sport masters on there? 15x30@7000. 93-94= 12% slip. too high. The 14 1/2x32's will run better. you are wasting HP to turn the 15" dia. better to turn the pitch then the dia in your light boat. I have never had luck with 15" dia in either my 28 or 32 skater. If you can't turn the 14 1/2x32 at 6,6 or 6,7 ask Dennis Cav. to take some cup out. set the shafts 2" up from bottom.
