Well, it sounds like good news, Josh. I'm hoping for a quick return in its best condition.

Glad to hear they found it. It happens up here in the great white north also. A buddie had his 03 35 Fountian and 04 Ford F250D Harley edison stolen at the ramp 2 weeks ago and still no word. He left the boat for 10 mins to go to the ships store came back and it was all gone, the truck was locked and the keys in his pocket. These guys have got some big ones. Iput a pic in stolen boats but seems noone has seen it

That is what I am afraid of. These guys doing more damage than the thieves did. Not much I can do but hope for the best.

If you have not claimed the insurance, the boat is yours and you can do what you want with it. That is ofcourse if nobody was hurt or killed during the theft.

If CSI treats it like our when the engines were stolen, it will be cleaner than when they (didnt) start(ed)...

Congrats on the recovery. I'm in Miami if there's something you need done let me know.. 305 232 2255

Some stats from another site thats been heavily involved in the South Florida theft problem... The guy who posted this is EXTREMELY active in the theft prevention issue, and very knowledgable on the subject..

Below is a link to download a PDF format document of a summary of marine-related theft stats from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Comission. This is public info. I do not think this is 100% accurate as not necessarly every LE agency might be actively reporting to the FWC. The bulk likely are however. It gives a pretty good indication of trends - and they are not good....

FWC Stats

A few summary tidbits from the PDF file you can download at the link above:

Reported thefts - 2nd quarter (April, May, June) comparison year-to-year:

2005 = 472
2006 = 614
2007 = 784*

* 22% increase in 2007 compared to 2nd quarter 2006 Vessels account for 492 of these reports.

Estimated projected thefts to be reported in 3rd quarter 2007 = 823

Make sure to read the footnotes in the actual document. This includes marine-related theft reports - including parts not necessarily the total vessel. NOT included is electronics external to the propulsion system such as GPS units, radar, radios, depth finders.

Jet-ski thefts are down 6% for the year - so far
Thefts of vessels 26-39' in length up 6% for the year so far

Thefts of boats 26-39' in length:
2007 (so far) = 13% of total thefts
2006 = 7% of total thefts
2005 = 6% of total thefts
Due to the $$ value of boats in this size range be sure these repesent a far larger % of the total $$ value of marine-related thefts - the above is just the number of theft reports.

Problem areas from January 1, 2007 through July 31, 2007:
County and # of thefts:
St. Lucie = 2
Martin = 2
Palm Beach = 6
Broward = 7
Monroe = 8
Collier = 3
Lee = 5
Charlotte = 0
Pinellas = 8
Miami-Dade = 68

Top 5 most stolen boat makes 26-39' range:
#5 = Avanti
#4 = Pro-Line (Express Series)
#3 = Hydra-Sports (Vector Series)
#2 = Contender
#1 = Wellcraft (Scarab)

MY own personal opinion is that Renegade brand will make this list soon - there are about 7 reports of this make stolen in So. Florida (Miami) in the last month or so alone.
