The twin engine V that Thunderusone is talking about actually lost 15 mph. They lowered the drive 1" and played with props and got back 10 mph. They figured they could get the other 5 back by playing with more props. What would the boat have run if they would have done all of this prior to changing the drive?
According to IMCO, the only problem they have had is shifting. Some of the drives have been hanging up in gear. It has only happened on a few of them and they have no idea what is causing it. It has nothing to do with gear ratio or prop size.

Sonny here in NC has a pair on his 36' Spectre and he likes them. He said he had one that was a little hard to shift, but it has loosened up now with some hours on it. They look nice. Maybe if you are ordering a boat today, you would opt for the merc 525 with the NXT drive. It is available on the 09 price sheet.
