Never been on the ocean, but at lake of the ozarks the waves get pretty big and come from all directions. I've been in a variety of boats including fountains, formulas, and scarabs, plus I've seen the way a lot of boats handle. We have two 1990 scarabs, one 43 and one 38. That 38 scarab might not be the fastest boat on the lake but it rides real smooth in rough water.

I get the love affair with the old Apache war machines, but couldn't an Outerlimits smoke one in the same water? No love for the newer technology?

I agree! a 46 outerlimits or Cig will walk away from the apache with alot less power. Not to take away from the apache but its technology!
|
We romp all over them with a 46 with 1075's. Great boat but heavy and old tech bottm cant keep up.

This or this would get the job done. We have a customer that had a couple OL's went to a 47 Apache and is now back in an OL. And he boats in rough water.

Bill Pyburn can vouge for the OL GTX and hes a skater guy now! The OL runs so flat and level its hard to beat! Wait til you see what cig has at the Miami boat show! BAD ASS!!
|
So best over 30 under 50ft soft landing, rough water, don't spill passengers beer boat is? 38tg, nor tech, black thunder, sonic, fountain?
|
I woul say 39 TG w 700 or 42 OL hands down! unless you have a fat wallet. Then 46 OL or Cig

Back to Resin Buckets....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pDV7vHF2G4 |
Nice vid! The old Apaches are cool and ride great but I'll stick with running 135mph in 3-4's in an OL. Bigger water just slow down a bit.:D:D I wish I had some vids to post. Keep then resin bucket vids coming!!

i ran the sv with Scro and was very impressed! the epoxy hull isnt for everybody. Rigid ride but i love it! Cig is smoother but not as fast. OL more fun to drive in my opinion. I think the sv should have third bolster. Love the old set up w side entrance to cabin-dual helm!

No need to comment. :party-smiley-004::grinser010: |

I totally respect & love ALL of the Apaches, but not even Kemosabe can, or should even be expected, to be able to hang for very long with a canopied 47 or 51 OL with big power, or a huge cat with big power in any conditions. That's no disrespect at all to Kemosabe, because it's a badass boat. I love Paleface too.
|
how about if they had the same top end to begin with??? Say in flat water the 47 apache ran 110, and the new OL ran 110. What would the outcome be in rough water??
|
It would be a dog fight, both boats are sick in the big water. I have been in both and I would put my money on the OL still.
The OL is lighter so it would recover better. I have been in 6-8's at 115 in a 51 OL (The animal house boat that became AMF / Geico) and the boat didn't mind the rough stuff at all. We ran XXX pretty hard in cleveland poker run 2005 or 2005 I don't remember and nobody could touch it in the big water. The apache might give a softer ride in the huge water due to the weight, but the OL should be quicker. I know that I have a customer that just traded his 47 Apache in for a 47 GTX, and he loves the 47OL in the big stuff. |
