Jass, why is water receding in your area? Is the wind from Ike pulling water away from your area into areas west?

We are on the river, which is connected to the gulf..Main Streets like 603, 607 were shut down yesterday and today for flooding. South side of Diamondhead shut down. I am on the north side but and at the end of our street neighbors got 3' vs 4.8' on Gustav. I was just a mote on 3 sides, no water in the pool this time. If this storm would have hit Lousianna we all would have had it alot more water...I feel bad for Texas, I was hoping it would have gone towards Bienerville.

This is the canal I live on. I took this picture Wednesday morning when Ike was 200 + miles away. My wife said it was over the sea wall about lunch time, scary!

Unique storm, this thing is packing a wicked storm surge for a Cat 2, the surge is more so along the lines of a much more powerful storm. Surfside and Galveston already got nailed with the beginning of the surge (and Surfside is almost completely covered in rising water) and that was earlier with landfall still quite a ways away .

Galveston is getting slamed right now..I'm in DT Houston and wind is steady but nothing too bad yet. Will try to give updates up untill I lose power which I expect around 8pm today.

Im in west houston. Dont think we are going to get alot of wind. But the storm surge is really bad. Thye are saying a storm surge of cat 4 or cat 5.

when I left my beach house yesterday, the water was at the bottom of the bulkhead. Saw a pic earlier of the house next door, and the water was halfway to the house.

Gonna get some water in this one.
