Heavy crosswinds were exactly what I had on my mind! None the less I'm glad it works for them. It does look pretty wild!

researched and it controls the yaw--- side to side roll movement of the boat, it is a stabilizer, helps keep boat running flatter and corner better, bet it works

That is forward engineering.....No idea how the system is designed.... However, the vertical wing is properly called a "vertical stabilizer"....Fixed wing aircraft use a "vertical stabilizer" in the tail section (empennage group ) which includes the rudder. It appears Mystic has included a rudder at the rear of their vertical stabilizer....That theory may include reducing some part of the water rudder, ability to cross control, better high speed control, "crabbing to cross wind and effect transom loading or CG shift.

Maybe Scott or Marc will elaborate on the purpose of the wing on Miss Geico.

Wing has worked better than expected, solid as a rock at 185mph with a 15knot cross wind and in testing we were making 90degree turns at 155mph and no sliding. Didn't push it at all in SIB but we will be testing more before St Claire. The vertical wing is not only there for high speeds, but is actually more effective when running the boat in a crosswind. The CG of the boat is different than last year after all the changes, the wing is giving us more surface area behind the cg where before it had a tendency to push in a crosswind due to about 65% of the surface area being in front of the cg. Now she tracks strait in the crosswind which is exactly what we were hoping for. The back end tightening on turns is an added bonus as well. All in all we are thrilled with the way the boat is performing and we have just begun

90 degree turn at 155mph! That equals 32 Gs

It was a sweeper not an immediate left, we were also able to do a big bend much like the right hander @ St Clair @ 185 and it felt like it was on rails
