What is the deadrise of this boat? How much does it weigh? Does it have a cabin? Or is it a stripped down race boat? Thats awesome if it runs that fast.

25 Eliminator Daytona. 110 mph. it will go faster but I am not so sure I want to see how much faster lol.

We have several 28 Jokers that run well over 100 mph.

Tom A. 07-29-2011 10:22 AM

Did anyone see this at the Miami Boat Show? When I asked what it ran they said they had not run it yet and were not going to sell it with that motor in it!

Man I'm glad I started this thread........:drink: Great feedback and learned of alot about boats I didn't even know existed.......:ernaehrung004:

OK, gonna throw in more Qualifications as in a usable everyday boat with company.....(1) Can't be gutted and set up for racing only. (2) Has to have stand up bolsters and a rear bench seat for three. (3) Has to have a cuddy that you don't have to crawl into and at least the room of a 25 Outlaw cuddy(sleeps 2 in v-berth and a couple of loveseats too.

Now lets see the feedback.........:lolhit:

Aqua Banshee 07-29-2011 02:10 PM

Didn't Mark Kinsler run 146 at the Loto shootout in 26 Eliminator around 2005

Just turn the power up in your outlaw, my Baja 272 has run right at a hundred, probably has more if I didn't value life, Smitty

Well, it's the fastest one I've ever been in and ever heard of. Without exaggeration, I still get goose bumps and feel a little sick when I think about my ride with Bob Teague for a Powerboat magazine test in that boat.

I was so scared at the time that I actually closed my eyes at one point in the run.

And the boat had more in it—we ran out of straight river before we the engine ran out of rpm. We both pretended to be disappointed when the drive broke before we could make our next run. Whew—I mean, dang ,those pesky drives.

So that particular 25' Daytona was the fastest recreational single-engine boat I'm aware of. However, there are faster (much) single-engine drag boats.

This brings up a good point. Maybe the discussion should be limited to boats that will run at least a 50-hour season without the replacement of major components...

Scalded Dawg 07-30-2011 06:36 AM

She has more in her Smitty. I have another 85HP in her at 5.5lbs of boost and guessing she will be right at 900HP at 8.5lbs of boost.....:drink: Have right at 50hrs on engine. Just glad I haven't broken anything for once this year......:evilb: How much power you have in the 272 again? 1000 plus right and you took off ur extension box for it scrubbed off MPH too?

Hey Matt, I actually asked Bob about the boat and ride a few years back, and he said he couldn't feel the bottom of the boat at that speed, but just kept the throttle pinned...

I remember the boat, it was a cooling looking yellow/blue flame paint job, I wonder what ever happened to that boat...?

PS, I can't imagine 144mph in that boat, I have the same boat, and theres no change I would ever have enough nuts to drive it at those speeds, its actually remarkable, when you think about it..

Hey, I'm glad to hear you say you were scared, bcuz even with Bob driving, I'm not sure I would get in it.. LOL

GPM 07-30-2011 10:30 AM

I was told the drive went back to Imco, motor went back to Pfaff. Two guys in Ohio ended up with pieces of the original motor both were 598s. One went in a 25 Daytona the other in a 28 Nordic.
The hull was sold seperate.

Mark Kinser in Iowa had a 28 Daytona with a big PSI motor and a #6 drive. He ran 144 at loto a few years back. I think he parted the boat out and sold it now. He now has a newer step bottom 43 Larry Smith (zero gravity).

Based on Scaldeds description...cats are out of the running

Right?

So then you have V's .

Do you want a shallow (lake) V or deep (ocean) V?

On my particular boat (2000 Baja 272) the only thing I have found that actually made it go faster was more hp, stellings box slowed it down and made it go from being mediocre to poor in rough water and the imco shorty made me see god over 95 mph when boat tried to swap ends, I am done trying to find the "magic" part that makes my boat faster, there aren't none, I have had every kind of prop and running over 1000 hp and ft lbs of tq anything more aggressive than a 4 blade labbed just makes drive parts break quickly, I run mid 90's these days with boat slightly under-propped and things last quite a while and 99% of the "fast" boats I run into get still real small behind me real fast unless waters rough:evilb:, Smitty

Is there a size limit to this question?

Scalded Dawg 08-02-2011 09:46 AM

I'd like to see the feedback with deep V. I have a 24 deadrise.

Very impressive....... I like my neutral Imco extension box, it may slow it down a little but it rides better in the rough stuff.....imo. I've prop tested so many other props and right now I'm running a 30 4-blade at about 5500rpm in the worst hot and humid conditions ever at about 82gps around 700hp at 6psi boost. I want to go faster and have alot more in this stroked 496 if I put the smaller pulley on but am enjoying my 1st trouble free summer so far.....:drink:

As long as its a single doesn't matter what size it is. I know Cats are by far the fastest and am loving all the feedback, but think everyone is narrowing it down to V-bottom now. Have a story to tell? :drink:

V hull-Pro charged 1995-1994? I believe 25 eagle 598 ci 114 mph without hydraulic steering. Very stupid but it was before many were pushing them that hard would strip the steering post. Put hydraulic on it and sold it new owner was so afraid he slowed it way down. Bob leach said he had never heard of one even coming close to that speed it literally would run out of hull very scary trying to slow down. It ran for many years with that motor never being touched finally blew when the fuel pump wire came off while wide open. Have to see if I can find some pics of it and the motor.

27 daytona motor in avatar 127mph not the fastest but ran hard if you could keep a drive alive in it.

Does our old Sanger hydro count?

My Laveycraft 2750 will go 90 with an ilmor 710 - and its loaded up like an escalade. AC, killer stereo, radar, nav, dual screens.

Sleeps 2 in the v no issues I often sleep aboard at least a night or two per San Diego trip.

As a matter of fact I can operate in zero visibility at night on the ocean with 100% confidence.

I get between 2-3.3 MPG - and have gone on 300 mile ocean trips with confidence.

This an extremely practical ride that happens to be fast with reasonable power.

Same bottom in the canopied 28 Evo is not as practical but will go 105 on the same engine.

This hull has an excellent offshore racing track record was designed for big water and is as good an all rounder as you can get.

If there is a faster 28 with the same level of HP and amenities Id like to see it.

So you installed a Imco ext box and it slowed your boat down? I have been told by so many "experts" how well a ext box will make Baja's singles go faster and it just didn't work on mine, you are the only other person I have heard that said the box slowed their boat down too, Smitty

We were 1100 hp but the problem was tuning because it is an efi even though it looks like an old school system. The drives would break a lot and tuning a motor when the drives are going would add extra load making it a nightmare to tune. It was a pfaff motor on premium 1100hp believe it would run about 1300 with 110 octane. We were using b-max drives and took out 5 that year our poor xr held together as the spare without one issue. It ran it's fastest speed with the xr the bmax dropped the speeds by at least 10mph. Bmax 117-118

Griff 08-03-2011 02:23 PM

There was a 25 Eliminator with a PSI blower motor that used run into the 140's at the LOTO Shootout.

Those 25's are a light fast hull. Wouldn't want to hit much of a wave though.

So, how fast would you say 900 hp would push a 27' Daytona? I've heard they run about 118 on a good day with 900 hp. Looking at the #'s, they claim 650 hp to reach 100 then the #'s agree on 118 for 900 hp.
