Fastest single engine boat? Lets hear it!
Okay, I love my 25 Outlaw, the way it rides, room it has and am glad for once in 5yrs that it has ran without any issues all summer so far(Thanks Ben).......:drink: I would just expect 700HP to push it faster than it does? A crap load of horsepower and only in the 80's....... ......lol. I want some feedback from everyone and their experiences on what is the fastest single engine (preferably V-Hull) boat WITHOUT sacrificing the ride. Just thought it would be an interesting thread to start and love to here what everyone has to say..............
|
My Velocity VR1 ran right at 80 with 550 horse..and Potter is building me a 700-725 horse engine right now..I will be starting a thread and posting results once it is back together.

28' Mannerfelt Batboat, 725 Ilmor/Indy drive, 103 mph with more to come.... (NO BLOWER.)
|
27 step bottom activator - under 800 hp and runs 106 gps with a non-labbed stock 4 blade prop - oh it's pretty good in rough water too! :drink:
|
22 classic 665 griffin blowermotor 107mph, still have not held it down yet. Not bar stool 107. mailman
|
Tuff 28 runs 95.5 mph with a single 525
|
West coast boat has record Howard I think?
|
The Baja Outlaw hull is not the most efficent hull. There are many boat manufactures that will run much faster with equal power. I am by no means knocking the Baja Outlaw, as personally I LOVE the classic shape the Outlaw has. But for speed not really the Hull of choice.
A friend of a friend has a 1999 Velocity 26' and he runs mid 90s with similar power. |
144 Mph
In 2002, Bob Teague drove an Eliminator 25 Daytona in Parker, AZ, with a 1300+HP Quad/Whipple motor to
a remarkable 144mph... Bob also drove an Eliminator 26 Daytona several years back to 141.9mph, when a distributer gear failured, causing the boat to slow..... Not sure if anyone else has gone faster in a 25/26 foot cat... Myself, I've driven my 25 Daytona up to about 103mph, and got nervous, its a small boat... LOL...:drink: |

Howards V hull ran 110mph, according to powerboat magazine, single engine, not sure how many HP
The Baja hull is non stepped, and heavy compared to others, but, I still think its one of the best "bang for the buck" out there. |
Laveycraft 28 EVO... Ilmor 710... 103mph.
|
AAHHHH com on.... this is too easy.
KEN WARBY's little hot hod. 317 mph ! Darrell. |
Laster's 24LD Progression with a very simple Whipple charged 502 runs 95 MPH. I think that shows the difference between that hull and a Baja. Both are non-stepped v-bottoms. One is much more efficient.

doing a 25 Daytona right now with an 1100 hp whippled 540.
Don't know yet how fast but its gonna hall the mail for sure. :) |

The Velocity is a great hull, what is your projected speed with the new power?

Great feedback!!:ernaehrung004: Keep em coming, really enjoying the feedback and reading up on boats I didn't even knew existed.........:drink:
|
There was a Howard Vee that ran 130+ MPH with a quad rotor whipple set up TPI1100, which is incredible for a vee hull.
It was Gary Taylors boat. He ended up getting in some serious trouble and is now in jail. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...-single-v.html |
Awesome!! Keep us posted on your project and look forward in hearing your results...:ernaehrung004:

George Desmond had an 18' Donzi Classic with a blown small block and Arneson drive that ran 110+. I don't remember the exact numbers but it was a sick ride, may have been closer to 120.....

Kryptonites run pretty well for a single. 700hp will put you in the mid/high 90's. |

30 phantom sportster. Mine ran right at 80 with a stock hp500 carb that was tired. I think Wills new 30 runs low 90s with about 600hp.
