Were you guys spinning in a couple years ago in Sunny Isle? We had a sixth floor balcony down that end of the course.

We did as well, boat slid and scrubbed off most of it's speed before we went over and it was in one of the 30 DW's with the early style canopy. The winter before that season I built a superstructure into the existing canopy and added a forward pillar into the side windows plus a roll bar. Doug has made incredible advancements and it's good to see someone compound on their previous work. That 30 was one seriously fun boat to run I can imagine the 32's are even better yet.

i hate to state the obvious but those with skaters maybe need to take a realistic look at safety.
alot of good people have been lost over the years and with this last lost of life, someone is going to have to step up and make a life or death decision about the safety problems inherent with canopy design.

both big thunder and page motorsports had two different canopy designs. there was might have been some issue with the big thunder canopy because it was a 4 person canopy and larger surface area. but page to my understanding was no issues with the canopy...

A friend rolled a 40 Skater off North Miami in the mid 90's at 116 .
Rick told me this boat had a roll cage under the canopy and that they slid on their side , then upside down and then back upright .
The hull was seriouly damaged but they fortunately only sustained minor injuries .
Perhaps the sliding prior to rolling scrubbed off enough speed to minimize damages and contributed to their good fortune .
