It's when you go run your fountain out in some decent water and the enclosed head wall decides to detach and falls down in the galley :lolhit: |
Let's rename this thread "haters ball"...Everyone can post sh*t talking about a boat they've never owned. Good times. :lolhit:

Cant think of anything negative to say about the boat. |
Hmmmm,
In my little ol' 29' BAJA :) I can sleep 6 comfortable in 3 beds, watch TV when relaxing, eat dinner at the table from food that was prepped on my stove or in the micro, drink a nice cold beverage right out of the fridge, wash the dishes in the large sink when done eating and put them away in the many cabinets/drawers, then shower with hot and cold water, brush my teeth while standing up in the bathroom (head for those PC guys) and pee and poop as I wish, all while staying comfy in either the AC or heat. And this is just down in the cabin! Outside, I can seat 9, while having room for a few more standing or dancing on the dance floor under the laser lights, while more girls can lay out on the front and tan themselves. Why would I give all this up and buy an 43' OL? :D :D |
This is actually pretty timid compared to the Apache threads.....just sayin!!!!!!!

Outlaw, 37 Active Thunder, was originally an F-2 boat that got several doses of bigger power through the years. I think it ended up as P-2 boat with huge motors/SSMVI's. Very impressive as it held together incredibly well and still retained most of the cabin.

on a plus note, and not to be a dic here, but most the key board hatred over OL, Cig, Fountain etc.. is coming from a bunch of guys who will never buy either anyway, nor have enfluence on a man smart enough to make enough money, to be able to afford one of these boats new. |
Best Looking Boat Period!!
I sure can't afford an OL but if I could, it would be my choice.
The top dog always draws the most attention. In Craftsmanship terms if you compare to its former competitor "Fountain", OL rules. Just look at the dash design and layout. IMO |
I admit I was happy when Reggie spanked Mike in that shootout.....it's VERY difficult to beat a F in all out speed....that being said the OL's are within millimeters in speed but typically have a beautiful outstanding cabin and wild graphics and interiors and since Im a cabin type of guy this really appeals to me.....price point in new there (was) quite a difference however but used that difference gets blurred significantly.....the only knock I have for the OL is they insist on that tubular swim platform (I thought they might have seen the light by now)....I HATE them, totally hot & uncomfortable.....I boat with a guy with an AT and when at the sandbar everyone ends up on or boat....that being said if I was in the market my ultimate boat would be a 37 OL full cabin with 700s (only 37 cause a 42 wouldnt fit in my shop)
|
Face it . Outer Limits is at or near the top of the food chain accompanied by a few other elite performance boat manufacturers .
Some companies may on occasion produce a one off no expense spared ringer but their general production vessels fall apart quickly under the pounding most OSO members dish out . My next "V" will definitely be an Outer Limits . I both admire and respect what Mike Fiore and a few others have accomplished in this industry . |
So............what ever happened to Bob Russel?

Spanked? On Pamlico river? As long as the Fountains can't stay together and a 40'+ boat can run 118-120 mph with Ilmor 725s I'd say OL is top dog.. Just sayin'

The record setting Fountain was a one off super light lay-up boat which should have been destroyed after the run. But it was sold and soon needed a new transom. I personally saw it in the shop getting the new transom. I personally got to inspect the hull up close and see that the outer skin over the core was literally about 1-2 mm thick.

Wonder if that transom replacement is part of the 350k invested per Shogren? :lolhit: This Is The Hull That Currently Owns The World Speed Record @ 177.883 MPH, 540/C.I/700HP Dart Motors With Snipper Intakes, 1050 Quick Fuel Carbs With Less Than 5 Hours On Them, MSD Ignition System, Huber 1450 Trans, Mercury #6 SSM Wet Sump Drives, 4 On Board Cameras, Head Set With Radio, 2 Video Monitors, GPS, Always Stored Indoors, Myco Trailer Over 350,000.00 invested :lolhit: http://www.teamshogren.com/pre-owned...race-boat.html |

I'm LMAO about this thread.
I always thought it was Baja's that took the brunt of the offshore hatred. I always laugh when I hear "I'd only have a Baja to wipe my ass with" or "The only good Baja is one used for kindling at a beach fire" etc... I'm really sorry they've gone so far now as to place these OL owners down here with the bottom feeders like myself. Personally, I'm with pqjack. I like all brands of boats, even my buddy's 25 yr old Bayliner with the wore out Force outboard. Our kids have an awesome time in it boarding with each other. See ya, Kelly |
Now I do want to be fair and there were two Fountain world V speed record boats. The one I saw may have been the first. I believe it was the Rio Roses boat. Half of the Rio Roses logo was gone where the transom had been completely rebuilt. The shop owner showed me how thin the skin was and told me that the boat should never had been sold. I do not want to name names. If I did see the first record speed boat is there any reason to think that the one built to win the race that Reggie coveted even more was laid up any differently. I don't think so. After what I saw, those speed records mean NOTHING.
|
|
There was the first world V speed record Fountain set by a boat with Rio Roses on it. It went an average of 158.7 mph over two runs. Then there was the second special Fountain built to take on the OL. It did something like 171. I know for a fact from personal observation that the first boat was a one off special lay-up boat that should have never been sold. IMO it's safe to assume that the second boat was built in a similar fashion. I'm not a Fountan hater or basher. A 42 Fountain used to be my dream boat and I admire all that Reggie did for the industry before things went sour. I do feel that Reggie pulled a "fast" one on those record runs though.
Also, that is not the same Rio Roses boat that I saw because the one I saw had the Rio Roses at the stern. Half the logo was gone due to the transom replacement. |

In early 2004 Outerlimits was able to push the XXX boat to an average speed of 161.29 mph to stake its claim as the fastest V-bottom at the 2004 Miami International Boat Show. Later in 2004, Fountain re-set the V-bottom kilo speed record with an average speed of 171.883 mph and a max one-way speed of 177 mph (Still stands). In 2006, Cigarette Racing attempted to beat the Kilo record and recorded a one-way pass of 172 mph, however its average was 163.759 mph. That's the latest from the Kilo record arena. I would personally love to see OL attempt to break Reggies record just for the pure entertainment value and to prove their claims they have a boat that will beat it (according to Dan from previous threads). |

I don't know. It's all confusing. I've been trying to do research on this but cannot come up with the boat I saw in the shop. It may not have even said Rio Roses. This was in Feb '09 that I saw this boat at a well known glass shop west of Chicago. I had a good discussion with the owner of the shop and he showed me how thin the outer skin was where some holes were exposed on the side. It was a record speed setting Fountain but was not the boat that went 171. |

That was not an official sanctioned kilo run. I was just giving the reported numbers of all recent attempts for argument sake. Yes, I know there was controversey surrounding the OL attempt and following claim of the record but I think after everything was said and done (meaining Fountain came back and beat everyone), no one questioned the 161.29 run. |
