Douglas Marines 388SLW will also be more interesting than the CCs Cig brings. What is OL bringing btw? |

I hope to be low 90's and maybe 95. Im not sure that I was setup rite/ drove it rite. I had over 25% prop slip. In the end I just want to boat every weekend and not too worried aobut my top speed. |
Just for the record and going back a few pages here; It was indeed the 171 mph boat that is presently for sale that I saw at the shop. I have verified that.

Mike, you know i love ya, but who is focusing on new technology, selling boats, and going "real fast"?? I was in Kew West this yr, and until the OL broke down, it was spanking the pack (of fountains)... ps check out "thisistanks" new vid of the 50' cig..... that thing is sick

i fully agree and i have never been a fountain cheerleader at all but, if we are going to talk about the fastest v we all know who holds that record and until someone betters it the record belongs to Reggie. Mike is working hard to bring new things to the table and that is great I would be proud to own one.
i owned an X fountain race boat, and my old man won the worlds in 04 in an OL, that same OL still looks like it never raced, my fountain, and most fountain race boats, look spider cracked and ready to fall apart at a strong wind storm after racing... Reggie built them fast, maybe faster then most, but what he proved on the race course didnt match what he sold to the public, OL does |
and this is coming from a die hard "nothing touches" a CIGARETTE" fan

im no expert, but i think the record holding fountain is a Skater laid up boat.... none the less, i think if OL had the time to make videos and sponsor some sort of sanctioned event, a few, (not just one) of their new V's, laid up by OL, the same way they sell them to the public, would smoke the thin laid up, ready to explode, particall board, skater (or fountain, see the thread about how thin the record holding boat is), might suprise us!!

I think the better question is "Why such hatred toward Fountain?" :party-smiley-004:

really, and danny didn't brag about it,then i doubt it happened.plus if it did, then ol has a boat faster than their own cat.because i know how fast the cat was going up to key west w/ 1400's and funny,it was on the rev limiters too.but i believe the guy who gave me that tid bit.
As for the V-bottom, I happen to also know how fast it will go, I've personally been in the SV43 at over 160+mph and I know for a fact it went 178mph with more to go. |

Where do you come up with this stuff? You know how fast the cat was going with 300 gallons of fuel, 6 people on a 100deg day and conservative setup? I was in the boat, I know how fast we were going, how fast we could go on that day and how fast it will go when we wanted to go faster.

Or why all the outerlimit people hate that fountain kicked their ass! :poopoo:
Fountain made a heck of a boat, certainly did amazing things in the marine world but the hate towards OL has always been very unjustified. |

And by kicking ass, you mean going bankrupt multiple times? Last I checked, OL is still taking orders and still selling boats. They also just debuted a 100% brand new boat that they tooled up from scratch showing they're actively growing while also releasing a CC. Can't forget to mention they're also making top fuel funny car bodies for multiple NHRA teams, and more to come.

Good point!!! The undisputed record .......for a real Old School Open Ocean race..... is held by Outerlimits, with a regular production boat, not a one off race boat. Sad to say, but in the world of Offshore, the only company that has shown up ready to race for the last two years has been Outerlimits. No need for a retort, just show up this year on September 22, ready to race and you can surely take the record away from them. Don Aronow Memorial Around Long Island Race...271 miles non-stop 3 hours and 5 minutes record. |

I don't know why there is so much hate, but I will say that I can not believe the performance of the 44 that Mike built for us.
I used to work at OL, that is no secret, but I have also worked for a friend of mine who has owned 3 OL's to date, and will be building the 4th. I personally have put 158 hours on our 44 & can say that I have no regrets, in fact I am still amazed at the performance and quality of the ride. The motors just got freshened, and 158 hours, pump fuel 1375 HP Salt water abuse and nothing broken, just decided to Re Build them and not try to prove any points. Aside from the motors, we have not had a problem that kept us from Boating. The boat has a full cabin, A/C, Generator. The speeds speak for themselves. The boat had plenty more in it, but the owner is not looking to go any faster, we ran 144 spinning 1:35's and 17.25 x 38's to the rev limiter. I am sure a set of 1:29's would have given us plenty more. That being said, I have known Mike since 1997 & worked with him and for him, as well as with some of the most talented people in the business. The only excuse for the hatred, is fear. Fear of what Outerlimits is capable of. To all that think the bashing gets OL down, it is a great motivator. |

I think I need to quit my blue collar job, act like sunkin, and try to weasel my way to the upper echelons of the offshore world so I can score rides in some badass boats like all you guys.
Anyone need a deck/boat hand for their highend offshore boat/company and wanna start me at north of 80k? LOL |

,but i just like proving that if you tell your self something long enough, you'll add mph(6) in this case and forget that the sticks were to the board and tps sensor was at 100%.wink winkyou want the exact engine rpm the motors were turning. and as history has proven, time and time again, danny would have been here blabbing their v-hull went 178mph,in a v hull supposedly too, never happened.and i'll stand by the mph's excaliber47 stated,as he has a better memory on this than me.and knows more details on the mph's and engines that did them. notice dustin never said the E85 motors destoyed themselves after what,10mins or something close to that.funny thing is,some people on here already knew the real story.doesn't help your story telling credibility. |
