So to put everything into perspective, we can only suggest what caused your boat to turn sharply and unexpectedly. Somebody with some solid boating knowledge needs to check out all of the mechanical parts of your steering system to see if anything is worn or broken. Play in a steering system can cause all sorts of weird and dangerous problems.

Even if everything were operating correctly, a stern lifting set of props - especially without counter-rotating drives - could still cause your problem. This is where the stern tries to walk around the bow.

Finally, if you have everything I just mentioned above, then have the drives tucked in and hit the slightest wave, the boat may bow steer. Couple that with the stern trying to walk around, and you have a real "Depends Undergarment" moment.

In summary, get a good mechanic / setup guy to look at and drive your boat.

Experimenting with a set of cleavers on my 26' Velocity w /outboards, even trimmed out, as soon as I thought about turning the boat bow steered and hooked hard in the direction I started to turn. The cleavers didn't generate any bow lift.
This is why if you decide to WOT with not much to no WOT experience bad things can happen. Until you have hours of running time (20+) in your hull don't go WOT especially with people in the boat. Do your experimenting with a friend who is experienced with running that type of hull. Not busting your balls. We have all made mistakes at one time or another in our boats. Just don't won't to hear about you or your family getting hurt. This is a great place to learn and some of the most experienced people to ask. Bob

Wear your life jacket and do EVERYTHING mentioned on here, I know the feeling, I was trying a Imco shorty a few years ago in my Baja, lost bite in the 95+ mph range, bow steered VIOLENTLY , saved boat from flipping but I saw god and I'm not even religous!!! I have 20+ years of boating experience and made the right reaction when it happened, the outcome could have been much different, Be careful, Smitty

My guess is a badly worn gimbal ring, if your outdrive isnt connected to anything it will go whichever way it chooses

Ummmmmm after the first unexplained sharp turn at WFO, why would you try it a second time?? Were you just verifying that you didn't imagine it the first time?

I'd have someone experienced check it out so you can stay safe and enjoy the boat instead of wondering when it will happen again.

Again, thank you all for your advises and comments, apparently the more I talk to experience boaters, the more they tell me bow steer, anyways ,i will have someone that works on fast boats check all the systems.

I will also try the mirage 25P props (3blade) that came with the boat.

Love this site,thanks again everybody.

mine has counter rotating props , here i attached some pics of the 454's that we've just installed ,they fit pretty good (as i understand this boat came originally with 454's from factory)

You originally stated that the props were rotating out but in the pic with the old Mirage props they are rotating in. Why the move away from the 3 blades? If you have a pretty conservative X, which you most likely do unless the transom was filled and everything moved up, I would think you would want to stick with the 3 blades with plenty of cup to carry the bow. I also notice you have nose cones. That could be affecting your handling as well. They really aren't necessary with the speeds you are running. If it was my boat I would go back to "square", so to speak, running 3 blades Mirage Plus props and turning them out. Then start dialing in from there. I would also remove the nose cones.
