With that being said I'd still buy shortys and space them down to where you want them. That will leave you options should you choose to use them. I have Bmaxs and love them, you can call the Bravo Shop (waconda) and he'll give you the straight scope on his drives. The new Bmaxs with his updates and improvements are WAY better than the old ones. JMO

Dont't overlook the possible speed loss with some of the other drives as well.
No possible speed loss with the ASD#7Ms. Possible speed gain of 10+ mph over the Bmax and the other bravo style drives, A hel! of a lot stronger too.

As offshore ex said. Proven again and again.

The price of ASD#7's has to be abig number. Would the engine hieght have to change?

The price is not that diferent from a Konrad or Bmax. You can also sell what you have since it includes everything from steering to drive except prop. Rebuild your upgrated drives once or twice and you be in more than the ASDs + with fuel prices on the up, the mid range cruise gains are quite interesting too.

Using the short couple version, it's the same location as stock bravos. Whether the x-dim should be changed is something that will have to be dertermined by someone like Rik.

I was really refering to to possible speed loss with "Bravo" style drives, I (mistakingly) assumed in the factor that surface drives were usually faster or at least no speed loss. The other items to mention I guess would be cost, additional rigging, weight placement and how that would/could affect the CG and handling of the boat. Lets also factor in prop selection and availability. Alot of factors overall to consider.

Sorry if I misunderstood you. I read it as a general comment about all the mentioned drives.

I do not however, understand your comment about prop selection. If it is possible to run cleavers, that is in my opinion a way better option than any of the bravo props. If one would like to run Bravo style props on the asd, you can do so on the ASD#7MB. And in terms of CG, if the motor location is the same, there is no change in that aspect. I do agree that there is no such thing as plug and play, but that is the case whether you do a Konrad or ASD setup. Dialing in will always be necessary when changing from one drive to another.
