Why is LOTO so great?

Not to date myself but I learned to water ski off the docks at Sportsman's Cove back in the early 70's.
My Dad's SS 235 Slickcraft was one of the largest boats on the water back then. You could "channel ski" and not get laughed at. The water was clean and clear. Of course over time everything changed and I changed along with it.
I still like to go a few times a year but now I'm glad to live and boat in FL. I've had the opportunity to boat all over North America and a few places around the world and so far like or not, there is no place on the planet like LOTO. BTW I never heard that acronym used until it started popping up on OSO. It was always just "The Lake" or "The Ozarks". To me it should be "Lake of a million condos".
Anyway, if you've never been there put it on your list.

I hate walking 27 steps to my dock with my 40' Skater on the lift next to my cruiser next to my 3 jet skiis.
I hate having 6 on the lake restaurant/bars 5 miles by water from my house.
I hate having my kids have a blast all day tubing/skiing/kneeboarding in my cove.
It really sucks to sit on my deck 50' from the water and drink martinis as I grill my filet mignon to perfection.
I freakin hate that place but I will force myself to go back weekly during the summer.

There is plenty of that and more...it's called Party Cove.
Which usually has 2-3 times as many boats as your video clip.
You should make plans to come out to The Shootout/25th anniversary. Just fly out, plenty of good folks to catch a ride with..

I live outside of New Orleans and we went there to look at a cruiser. We planned on keeping it between Orange Beach and Destin, instead we fell in love with the lake. The boat sleeps at Camden and I've made it there about 5 times since July 4th. It's that much fun!!!

Lake is filthy, over-developed, overrated, infected with ecoli and full of morons who think they know how to drive boats..but cause more accidents than any other inland body of water in the nation.
It does have the Shootout...which is an amazing collection of Hardware once a year. That is it.
The fact that it is NOT a Corps lake and it has ZERO covenants has turned it into a cess pool.
Just because "Lots" of people go there, does not make it a good lake. "Lots" of people eat McDonalds, and "Lots" of people voted for Obama..this does not constitue good taste or judgement.

My favorite thing the LOTO locals say about the rough water is: "The lake isn't bad during the week." Really? What lake isn't?
I love how I have an oil ring around my boat that takes acid to clean off from a weekend of boating there, even though my boat doesn't leak oil. Oh, the water tastes like gasoline too!
Honestly, I think it is a neat place with lots of bars on the water, populated by folks that don't know it is way less expensive to drink beer out of the cooler rather than at a bar.
Oh, don't forget it is the 3rd most dangerous body of water in the USA,lead only by the Colorado river & Atlantic ocean.

You can drink beer out of your cooler at LOTO on the docks at the bar.
