Jesus Christ.... Just talked to those guys a few months ago, hope they are all okay. I recognize that boat, hope his kids weren't on that, and no one got hurt.... Lake wasn't supposed to be too touch today, who knows what happened.

I think there was 4 adults, I know there was no kids..I am also friends with a handful of the first responders and that's the info I got from them..

Thought the same thing myself. Tie bar also doesn't work as well when that happens

Hopefully the owner will chime in and tell us what actually happened. Question for the experts, what is it about some boats that causes them to spin much easier than others?

I saw this video awhile back...these guys are hammering down in the turns and the boat is handling like it is on rails!!! Whats the secret to these race boats not spinning or rolling in these extreme conditions. Look at 3:15 and 4:10.

Boats that have multiple steps can spin at any on plane speed. Often, the driver and the boat have a difference of opinion on which step the boat is going to pivot on either in a turn or reacting to the water; and someone gets wet.

I've seen that same technique used. It can also be used for a boat that is upside down...
...by tieing a long line under and then over the hull. As one boat pulls the boat forward, the second boat runs parallel. Once underway, the second boat tied to the line around the hull starts to pull away from parallel running and flips the boat over. The first boat is continuing forward the entire time; and pulls it up on plane just like the video.

As for bow eye strength, we lift fully rigged boats all the time by the bow eye, but you have to know it was built strong enough to do so. Obviously the Cigarette is built as such, but there are others that I've seen pull the bow eye out with an anchor tied to it.
