Poker Run Format - should it be changed?

[QUOTE=Cat & Mice;399187 . Just like if you drive a cat right behind another with a roost, your boat will blow over. this is a simple mistake and mis judgement and in this case tragic. No rules will fix that. If you make it harder to blow over then drivers will push the limit in some other way. .

While can agree with some of what your saying, I must out of respect for Brad and Jeff disagree on this point. It was not a miss judgement per-say to cross behind PP. They really had no good choices. It was a desicion made in a split second. If you watch both videos, many of us have the opinion that they saw the boat crossing the channel left to right and thought they were on a direct path with them, and that they could not go further right to miss them because of the floating cruzer in the first video. That only left slowing and trying to cross PP's wake which unfortunatly forced them to lift on the throttles. Which also gave them more bow lift when they hit his wake.
Just a really bad day and some really bad luck all at the same time. For which we will all sorely miss two great guys

A little common sense would work in the proper hands also.

All you guys running your mouth about how stupid or moronic these guys are were not there, your not seeing what they seen for them to choose those lines. Nor were you there seeing all these spectators pushing the envelope to see just how close they could position themselves just so they could get footage just like I posted. Should they not be so close WELL YA, but unless your in those boats who to say that wasn't the safest line

Hence my question above. If the nose starts to come up and you dump the air out back, will the nose come back down? Or is it too late at that point?

I hear this all the time, why when someone give their opinion they're all of sudden a "keyboard cowboy" isn't that why were here, to discuss and talk about boating.............maybe we could do it without all the name calling and back stabbing, that might help, JMO though.

I've only owned Cat's for 9 years so not as much experience as some of these guys, but IMO at 150mph plus there is no time to do anything.

So once again we established numerous OPINIONS on the accident, and how to improve or change the Poker Run format itself (speed limit etc..) we all know that opinions are just like azzholes and some even smell the same! There are always more than one side to a story and all the details sometimes never emerge. Only a few positive posts have been made on this subject in this thread and they are in regards to prevention of the blowover itself with respect to safety/design features incorporated into the boat somehow. Maybe a discussion on those possible changes or ideas in that direction could put good use to the talented boaters and keyboarders on here and have a positive outcome somehow. Regardless of whos at fault at this point, two more human beings, fellow brother boaters none the less are not with their family or us anymore, why not focus some energy in a productive area? Just my 02.
there needs to be computer controlled flight control surfaces on some of these boats.......the technology is there, the price should be negligible for a boat that cost what these boats cost and I think it would make a difference
high performance cars like a Veyron have a shopping cart wing that changes with the speed, aircraft of all types have autopilot and nascar has the hatch lid (that is apparently much more engineered than just a hatch opening up)
put a gyro/computer controlled wing on the front of these boats and set it to prevent any type of "liftoff" angle from ever being reached and then further set it for a "slam the nose back down" angle of attack if there is some type of liftoff

Watching all these videos just screams that Poker Runs for the most part will be very different going forward. Any organizing body for poker runs will need to rein in this chaos. I can't see corporate sponsor, insurance companies or individuals wanting to be a part of any direct or indirect liability ..... 20-25 feet passes by spectator boats.....REALLY??? Can't buy common sense.
