So so sorry for your loss. Breaks my heart.

I only met Brad once at LOTO and it was clear right away he was a smart guy with tons of passion for what he did.

I can't imagine how difficult this is for you and your family.

I personally have been pretty upset about this and my reaction is to try and fix it so this does not happen to anyone else. I have been around the poker run scene for long enough to see way too many accidents hurt or take the lives of great guys. I just want to do whatever I can to help find a solution. That was the intent of these threads, clearly some have got off track.

Sorry you have to read all the crap on this site. There is some good and lots of bad. If I were you I would not have the strength to read these threads or for that matter even post something. You are clearly a very strong person and I pray for you and your family.

This goes for me as well. I'm very sorry for your loss and I feel anyone would reverse what happened if they had the opportunity, but sadly people are looking for a answer and these forums are the way in the boating community. I was there in 2008 when Kevin's accident happened and that was a somber weekend as well. Nobody can imagine what you and your family are going through right now and we're sorry your reading this while trying to cope with your loss. My heart goes out to the families of Brad and Jeff for sure.

I read this post a couple hours ago, and I simply could not sleep with out making a response. Honestly I do not know Brad, I never had the honor of meeting him, however what I have learned from the comments of his friends and clients, encouraged me to read back through and find the one post that speaks volumes on Brad, who he was, how he may have handled his boat, not to mention himself.

(Knot4ME) "My wife was sickened by the news when I broke it to her Sunday morning. I recommended Brad to a friend of mine to get his 500 EFI's built up a couple years ago based on feedback from OSO. As we were watching the boats come in to Big Dick's Friday of the LOTO Shootout, Jeff's Skater along with the all white Skater caught her eye. When Brad and crew walked up she commented on how well she like their Smith Power shirts. We stopped Brad and had a short chat with him about my buddy's boat, the Skaters, and I told him my wife loved his shirts. Not knowing us from Sam he told my wife he had plenty of shirts back at the hotel at Camden On The Lake and if we dropped by he would set her up. My wife really got a kick out of seeing Jeff's boat and the white boat go past us at speed as we were running to Captain Ron's after Dick's. I really appreciated how one little gesture towards complete strangers made my wife's weekend more enjoyable (she's really not much of a performance boat fan but became more of one that day...her first Shootout). Just a small story on the kind of guy Brad was. My wife and I were glad to have met him. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of both Jeff and Brad." (Knot4ME)

The above gesture and the way friends, family, co workers, clients, and complete strangers describe Brad, should truly earn him the benefit of the doubt.
Just simply compare the compassion he showed to complete strangers on the dock for a simple t-shirt, and I am quite sure you do not have to stretch your imagination too far as to rationalize the idea that he would very likely put his own life on the line to protect a complete stranger out on the water. sadly the main video shows that motive. Krissy In my very own humble opinion, your husband left this world with honor.

I cant understand how a group of people who are all here for the same reason(the love of performance boating) can have so many different views on this matter.the only thing clear to me is we lost two brothers this weekend! You can look at both sides of the argument about how close they were to the spectator boats or how close the spectator's were to the coarse.I know I know its not a closed coarse but you get the meaning.and I also wander if half the people arguing about what they should have done when the cruiser crossed there path have ever made a decision at 160 mph? I've not been that fast on the water but I have many times on sport bikes.and would imagine it the same on water if not worse.all I know for sure is there are grieving families and friends and people looking for answers.all this talk about lcpr being shut down? Why? this seems to be a well organized event that like any things happen unplanned.I'm sure they didnt set around the planning committee talking about how dangerous they could make this event!what I'm getting at here is all the blame being spread around,is bull$#it.I've never had the pleasure of meeting brad or Jeff and was not going to add my .02 to this thread until Brad's wife chimed in.as soon as she did it put tears in my eyes.I've got a 15 yr old son who also loves these boats and reads oso constantly, I could NOT imagine him having to read about this had this been me!!!!!Before you comment think about if it was your wife or kid reading this and determine if you think it would be ok! Our thoughts and prayers are with Jeff,Brad and their families and friends as they try and cope with this.
