The fires actually aren't terrible failures considering what I've seen in the industrial field. I'd love to see how the drivetrain on a turbine boat works in person. There isn't much out there to read up on their running gear that I've found on the internet.

If you think those baby turbines are pricey, you'd **** if you knew what a big turbine cost. New HP rotor alone is $4 million...

Is that a LM2500 in a balancing jig? Never seen one opened up, but have pulled 3 out of a FFG during my Navy days, (GSE) some may know what that means. Have always loved turbines.

In Bayway Refinery at the tanker fueling station there is an overhead gizmo named Fire Eye. I was told by the Refinery people that if it sensed spark it would spray Fire Foam on the source. As you can imagine, Bayway Refinery would know how to handle fire. Maybe a small system designed for all offshore race powerboats? Hope this helps.
Turbine offshore powerboats, Wow! The company Turbine Marine's products, Wow! Only 2 wows allowed per post. Have fun, stay safe.

On the SBI live feed it showed smoke coming out of both boats.......could smoke/steam be confused on a windy day.....maybe Arruda will come on here and tell us what happened.
