Mike,

There's a lot of azzclowns in this world, I would love to name a few, but they know who they are, I just ignore folks like that, not worth your time, my friend, have a great New Years Eve and stay safe.

Hope to see you soon, Jim

Heres why you shouldn't be a douchebag at the ramp.

Earlier this year, in spring time, I took a ride down to my local ramp, to check out the lake levels. Lake Michigan was very low. So I pulled up in my truck, parked it, and walked around the ramp. There was a guy there, who was launching one of his customers boats. Initially I saw how far he had backed in with this large cruiser, but didn't think much of it. Anyhow, his customer in the cruiser backs off the trailer, and off to his destination. The guy attempts to pull the trailer up the ramp, but uh oh. He backed up too far, and the trailer fell off the ramp.

At this point, I knew he was in trouble. Rather than hop in my truck and go about my day, I walked over to him. He asked if I could give him a tug with my truck, and I did. However, that just wasn't working. The axles were hung up on the ramp. It was early spring, and the lake was very cold yet. I suggested using the floor jack he had in his truck, and getting to the rear of the trailer, to jack it up, then pull forward. But, it was frigid water, and he did not have waders or a wet suit. I know a wrecker company, and he asked if I can call them. The wrecker came out an hour later. Hooked a line to his truck, gave it a pull, still nothing. Any harder and damage would have been done. By this time, his wife showed up with some waders, and he did the floor jack trick. It worked, and he was free. Sounds simple but the overall process was hours.

The owner of the wrecker company, just happens to have a cruiser, and even in this particular harbor we were at. So, being a boater, he charged him a VERY fair rate. Almost not worth his fuel and time to come out on a weekend with his big boy wrecker.

Moral of my story, is that sometimes $hit happens at the ramp. So next time you want to be a dik to someone, keep in mind, that guy, just might be the guy whos willing to help if something bad happens. I stayed with this guy for over 3 hours, helping him, the wrecker owner hooked him up, and his brand new Ford and trailer walked away without damage. He was very greatful for me helping and staying with him, as it was a ghost town around there that day, and I would have wanted someone to do the same for me. It sucks when things go wrong, and you have nobody there.

Funny, my son-in -law is a surgeon with two Porsches. He's a great guy until he gets in those cars or gets into a discussion about those cars and becomes a dick.

HHAHAHA Its a PORSCHE thing… LOL…

As for the vid… I busted my gut when the guy tied the line to the dock post and busted the post… That has made my New Years… Thank you.

I have experienced the same thing. I through a shaft and had to park in Gal Yacht Club. Man those guys were pricks that launch from there… I had a bigger go fast boat than many of the CC… I just blocked the whole boat ramp and waited for the Coast Guard to show up to support safe harbor. LOL… Then the CG start looking at all the other boats and start to issue fines. I felt justified. LOL

Maybe I'm asking the wrong crowd. Guess we have a lot of holier than thou here.

Hope y'all don't treat someone that way and end up needing help!!

Sorry I treat people good. Was questioned constantly about my 272. Was happy and proud to talk about it.

I know many folks are way more wealthy than I. However I don't feel you should treat anyone wrong!

That may be the guy to get you home one day!!
Your the same way as I am and I agree to treat people the way you want to be treated. I hate to say it but on average I've found people with 18-23' bowriders to be the nicest people boating. The people I enjoy spending time with out on the water are ones that are just out to enjoy a great day on the water relaxing and having fun regardless of what brand/size boat they have. It's supposed to be a good time and stress-free. I'm one of those people. I'll go out of my way for anyone as long as they are genuinely good people whether it's needing help or just wanting to shoot the breeze.

The people I avoid are the people who act like they are in the "cool kids club" or are desperately trying to get into it and being accepted. I've met ALOT of these kinda people boating and it's truely sad. Most have forgotten who they really are or came from in the delusion of who they think they are or want to be.

I usually take good friends that are non-boaters out with me. They just have a good time and don't have a clue what the difference is between a 47 Fountain, a 48 MTI, or a 175 Bayliner nor could they care. Just be yourself and enjoy what is most important about boating, being on the water. Life is too short to let douchebags bother you.

I don't use boat ramps anymore so I can't say lately, but when I have used them in the past I always try to be courtous to someone who comes up and talks to me about 1 of our boats... As long as I'm not holding up other boaters at the ramp..
Happy New year.

Same here, what's the point of being a dooche bag. I have no desire to project my pissy mood onto others if I'm having a bad day, it wasn't their fault.
