There is always going to be one A$$ Hat at ramp who for what ever reason has an attitude, our group at the ramp just shuns them and we stay clear of them. The best part for me is that if they are real annoying I will wait out in the lake for them and wax their slow boating A$$.

No
Commandersander nailed it. It's a 98 42 carbed boat. Stagger. Black marks on port side, looks like tires drug against it. Near stern.

I hate to say it but it happens more than you might think. There have been many times through the last ten years where I would be at a poker run (or boat show) without a boat and start up a conversation with someone. Let me preface by saying I am very good about not interrupting an important or difficult time. That said, most of the time the people have been nice or at least not a d!ck. However there is always someone who pulls the "holier than thou" attitude. I have to admit it used to pizz me off especially when I had a smaller boat. Now that I have my 38 Donzi, I find that those type of people change their tune when I tell them about my boat. I love it when they size me up and I can see the gears in their head spinning wondering if I am serious or full of it. It is always nice when you can make one of those idiots feel like a shmuck.

I always treat everyone the way I would want to be treated and always try to go out of my way to discuss my love of boating. Have I snapped at someone while at the ramp, yes.... and I have actually gone and apologized for it. There are some idiots (i.e. guy in the gas station) who makes the ridiculous and/or negative comment. I just look and smile (mentally say go f*ck yourself) and know that they are just miserable people.

Dumb questions, get dumb answers: (True Story) - Gas station in Maryland - My friend is fueling his quad outboard CC and a guy walks up to us and asks - "Why does he have 4 outboard engines?" Without missing a beat my friend Charlie replies - "Because he couldn't fit five!"

In anything that GUYS DO youre going to have azzholes that think their all that and everyone else is a POS. I grew up playing hockey....you always had guys who thought they were "Going to the NHL" and acted like they were already there. DIRT BIKES.....some guys would simply look at your bike, wouldnt talk to you. SUPERBIKE RACING.....whoa dont get me going on some of those prima donna a -holes. I swear to God one time I caught up to and passed this perennial top three/winner guy and right after the race he comes up to me and tells me my bike is a POS!! SLOT CAR RACING... I swear some of these guys literally thought they were Dale Earnhardt right down to the #3 Goodwrench slot car, The #3 cap, shirt, the Dale mustache, the Gargoyle sunglasses and they acted like there was 100K on the line at every race. And if you even looked at their car they would Freak Out even though I lapped them four times in the last race and was 2 time track champion. MUSCLECARS....do I even have to go there?

Luckily in all the above cases the percentage of a holes was pretty low. Offshore Powerboating.....pretty macho, lots of flash, lots of money involved. That will bring out the a holes. Anything you do that involves guys youre going to have a holes, Like posted earlier dont worry about it blow it off and move on.

Oh yeah Im building this track day car. I'll be going to events with a pile of Porsche BMW Ferrari Vette guys and Im in a 69 Chevelle....this should be fun.Im not even close to worried about it Im used to it.

Are you like this? Why would anyone act this way? Just wondering
I'm going to quote your original post to point out what jumped out at me. It wasn't the actual description of the boat or the person but the fact that you said it wasn't the first time it has happened while trying to talk about someones boat. I've had similar experiences and have found it's across the board with all boaters for some reason. I like all kinds of boats and if I see a nice one whether a 42 Fountain, 18ft flat bottom, or even a blow boat I'll let the owner know "nice boat" and want to chat. 9 times out of 10 I a get short responses or a blank look like there wondering why I'm speaking to them. Contrast this with my experience with other motor sports (so to speak), I could tell a guy driving a muscle car, rice burner, jacked up 4x4, harley, etc., nice vehicle and we'd stand there for a hour shooting the crap about it. Heck I pulled into a Wendys the other day and stopped a guy and his wife getting out of a '98 2 door Tahoe just because it was a nice unmolested ride. Owner stood there in the middle of the parking lot for 10 min telling me about the truck. Try that with someone pulling a boat. I don't get it. Not saying I haven't meet some nice boaters and of course meet a few from here on OSO that were great but it seems that unless boater know you personally already they don't want to talk much. I'll keep saying hi to my fellow boaters though.

Can't wait till it's done....

But in response to the OP, I think you just met an a$$hole and some of the guys here seem to have ID'd him. I also agree that the ramp is the most stressful time, and often unless you have a similar boat hitched to your truck, guys with bigger/nicer boats are sometimes hesitant to accept help from strangers. No matter though, there is absolutely no reason to be an a-hole to anyone. I say brush it off, I mean the boat has tire rub marks on it... if the guy can't be bothered to clean his 42 lightning, he probably isn't worth the time of day. Oh wait, it's a fountain, no wonder he doesn't bother cleaning it...
