Not picking on Cig BTW.....Tiger's look awesome and TG's are always "the original!"
Just don't think Cig has kept up with changes in the market like other builders. Lack of new models, lack of changes/updates will turn off buyers. Really a TG from 1988 looks just like they do now 25 years later. Exposed hinges on compartments, igloo coolers strapped in the cabin and a sh!tter box in the center of the cabin are things that "#1 printed on 47 logos throughout the boat" simply can't overcome (as far as updates) and this is where NT/OL are taking new sales. Performance and price are all similar (ok OL will be the fastest) so updates will make or break the sale.

302 just listed a 105K Lipship Tiger with nice paint/interior, 2006 525's with 60 hours since rebuilds......so that theory of 100K boats need work just went out the window.
302 also listed his experience with a recent sale on a 42X, he didn't drive the market down. Some could say you lowered the market with your recent sale (38 w/#6's for less than some bravo boats are listed). Why so cheap? Why lower the market?.........because that was the price point the market would support and the quick sale shows that was the right money for the boat.
As far as Powerplays, I would bet money a 38 Powerplay would pull more money than a similar year/power 38 Cig because they are simply a better boat. Remember OSO Steve bought a 38 PP and took it out on a rough day to try to knock the flat screen off the cabin wall (didn't happen!).
Note all high performance stuff depreciates and the market has gotten smaller since new boats aren't being made in volume. Cig didn't even display in Ft Lauderdale this year and Nor-tech took their spot and loaded it with center consoles (one cat was there). Phil had premiered some of his new boats there in years past, he hasn't been there in 3+ years with a new boat. Dealers aren't stocking new Cigs (like they have for the past 20+ years), heck there are 2-3 dealers in the whole US now! There is less demand for I/O go fasts of all brands, low demand for new ones will also crossover to low demand for used ones as well.......demand lowers prices on used ones.
As far as Nor-tech and Cig.......try to find a used 39 Nor-tech CC compared to the dozen Top Fish/Gun Opens that are always available........Also note very few owners have ever bought a NT then flipped over to Cig but plenty of Cig owners flipped to NT. Jeff Jassby and BobtheBuilder both had a TG, then built 2 brand new NT's!.......they must have skipped their servings of #1 Kool-Aid.

The NT and Powerplay statements were two brands that Adam has or does currently own, so I was simply teasing him on a personal level, he's a friend of mine. I'm a fan of both of those brand.....for what it's worth. Reading your Cigarette comments in these forums over the years, it's obvious that you don't like the taste of Cigarette Cool Aid as you rarely have anything positive to say about them, so most of us on this thread are already behind the eight ball with you from the get go, but that's cool... To each his own.
The sale price of my boat was set at 69K for a few reasons, not that I need to explain, but I will.
It's an older(1988) boat and it's hard to justify a much higher price with all the "deals" out there if I really want the boat to sell anytime soon. Basically, I wanted it to sell in 2 days, not sit for 2 years.
Also, I advertised in the add that the engines had 200 and 400 hours on them. Knowing that the new owner was going to have to spend some coin to freshen them, I was trying to be realistic about the cost of the boat plus engine freshens as a whole, which any buyer is going to consider when makin a purchase.
And lastly, I bought the boat at a "deal" price. I've put money into it myself and was still able to make a few bucks on it even at 69K, so at the end of the day, it was a win win for me and for the buyer getting a nice Top Gun for a reasonable price.

A lot of people like the fact that a product hasn't evolved too much. Look at the old Porsche 911, other than a few changes, a 1969 has the same basic appearance and shape as a 1990+. They are still sought after for that classic look. The TG is not all that dissimilar in this regard... it has a timeless appeal.
For this same reason the resale in the used market remains strong for these boats. New buyers still like the classic look, while at the same time someone at the bottom end of the market can buy a 1989 and at least in their mind (and most of the general publics mind), he has the same exact boat as the guy with the new model. Not the same boat, but they do have the same basic look so the market is stronger than it otherwise would be when compared to some other company that constantly changes and evolves their look and technology. In the later case, the value of the older models can get driven down quickly because it they look dated (compared to the latest and greatest) very quickly.
So sometimes lack of evolution isn't always a bad thing. How many TG's have been sold over the years? I'm not a huge fan of them (since there are 10 or more on every dock), but you can't argue there isn't demand for them... and mostly for that classic look and appear.
Anyway, just an observation.

Jupiter I will say you are on point on the crapper box in the middle of the floor, and the whole cabin for that matter. OL wins hands down on speed and creature comforts. And I for one really don't see the whole center council thing it's not for me. But to each their own.

i must agree! it's one of the nicer tigers i have seen. from the paint to the motors it is a nice package. someone will get a hell of a deal. you just have to look close to see where the salt has gotten to on this boat, but looks great in the pics. even the rear sun pad logo looks new
