Best I saw all summer was 82.9. BUT...and this plays a big part in things, if you ask me...its all in how you use the boat. The 36 OL buyer is most likely going to be a person that appreciates speed first and foremost...and might not be planning on overnighting as much. I bought my boat with camping out every weekend in mind...the speed was VERY secondary to me. I appreciate the fact that the boat is an 80 mph ride everyday, but, in all honesty...Joe, when we went out that day, that was one of the only times all summer I even held it wide open, and even then, it was only for less than a minute. In addition, I was full up on fuel (as I usually am).

Dan...the fact that a 37 AT has run 90 with 525s has been hashed over again and again...but ALWAYS comes with the caveat of $6k worth of Herring props. I found a set of Herrings before I took delivery of the boat, and contacted Pat about what he thought about putting them on. He recommended against it due to the stress that would be placed on the drives, as getting out of the hole was VERY difficult with them on. I don't think Pat is "trolling" a thread when it is his boats that are being discussed, and nobody knows them quite like he does...

I love all these comparison threads...they seem to bring out the best and worst in comments. Also the informed and uninformed! And with Brownie's contribution...well...the master has spoken.

When you flip the anchor locker open, and view it from the just the right aft angle; it looks like pulpit and BOOM! 39' Baja.

Whenever I post in the AT forum pat tells me that I'm trolling even though I used to own one, so I flipped it around.

I used to have friends who told me once I got married and had kids, my boating days would most certainly be over. NOT!! You get the kids on the boat when they're in diapers and they grow up loving the water. I have 2 daughters, 5 & 9 who have started to ask me "Dad, are we going on the boat today?" Right after I got married, I took my wife to a boat show and got her hooked immediately too. Boating is a wonderful family activity and forces you to spend quality time together since you're confined to the boat. We made lots of friends on the lake and the family can't wait to get out with friends every weekend. Granted, my style of boat changed a bit and some compromises had to be made, but I'm on the water and that's what counts. Just don't get to point B as fast as I'd like!!

Comparing a Baja to Active Thunder, because of high sales #'s, is like comparing Meridian to Viking...

Here is a picture of the attitude of the 36SL at cruise for those of you asking about running surface while under way. The boat runs very flat and it extremely stable at all speeds. We will have two 2014 Outerlimits 36SL's at the Miami show. The blue 520 boat will be in the water at Sea Isle. The 565 boat will be in the Outerlimits display outside at the convention center under tent. Come see the Outerlimits Powerboat and Performance Boat Center crews and determine for yourself which boat better fits your needs.

On a side note, if we were comparing a similar hull between Active Thunder 37 and Outerlimits, I would have to put the 37 AT up against the 37 Stiletto. Both are 37FT, bolt on swim platforms, single step, side by side seating, Tall top cap which results in a large cabin. The 37AT and 36SL are two completely different boats built for 2 completely different markets.

I think that's a good point. The design is probably similar in age as well. In fact, I still feel that the Stiletto was one of OL's best boats they made from both a styling perspective and ride quality. I wish they still made them. One a friend owned ran about 76mph with HP500's, extension boxes and "fully" appointed cabin on labbed props. Another had 850's and ran 103mph.
