These two boats are not on the same playing fields. The outerlimits has state of the art technology. We test rode the new 36 ol at the cumberland poker run. Its awesome! I have rode on every vee botom there is. There is nothing like an outerlimits! Totally different than any other boat. A camaro is cool but it will never be a ferarri! If your a serious performance boater you owe it to yourself to experience one.

No offense to anyone but this thread is confusing used boat and new boat buyers. Oh wait this is OSO :lolhit:

The majority of responses are coming from used boat buyers not new boat buyers. Big difference.

How many can even fathom actually spending 350-400k on a boat????

Don't think many NEW boat buyers want to spend 350k+ on a new boat and have a almost identical 8 year old boat worth 125k pull up along side at the dock looking almost as good.

That's what's nice about the OL. Its a new design. And they continue to lead the industry with updates and innovations.

AT seems to make a great boat. They have a cult following especially in the USED market.

But maybe AT wants to keep the business small. I couldn't agree more since that's my personal belief. Small or huge. Everything in the middle cost as much as large business with all the headaches but only profits like a small. Nothing wrong with AT and where they stand. I love all powerboats and hope the sport continues to grow!

I think we might see a resurgance of the stabbin cabin with the decline of poker runs and increase in fun runs. Who wants a blown out race boat with no cabin to run around in and raft up with friends. I guess no one has kids either?

Different strokes for different folks... If buying a new boat I want a nice cabin with good headroom and a place for my wife and kids to relax or take a nap. We've done both hotels and overnight on the boat. I like the boat better, its part of the adventure of boating. People who have fast boats with not cabins give the rest of us a bad name. Especially for some of us who would rather die than buy a cruiser. lol

Hows that for an opinion??? As I said, different strokes. ;-)

Curious how the 36 OL cabin will not suit most NEW powerboaters? Unless you have a black thunder and a generator most extras in a cabin are not used. I have nothing against a well appointed cabin but how many times do you see people NEVER use the sink or microwave? Again not talking USED boat buyers even though most of them don't fully use a well equipped cabin anyways.

The 36 OL cabin has a place to sleep. Storage. Place to get out of the sun. Place to change. Etc. That's all MOST need anyway.

Some of you are acting like its full cabin amenities or 2 seat race boat!

We were out one day and my buddy brought some skank with him. I see them talking and he points at me saying ask him. Skank comes over and ask to use my toilet, I say use the water, skank says not that number, I lie and say I don't have one. Skank then goes into buddies cabin and proceeds to drop a deuce in a plastic bag. I told my bud that skank was marriage material... Carry on, I like the AT.

It's something I don't understand but that's their choice not to use it. I see a lot of new boats where the people don't even take the plastic off the carpet in the cabin or take the pastic bags off the cushions. It sorta makes me sad.

My mindset is that a boat and all of its amenities are meant to be used. For instance, I don't like when people come on my boat WITHOUT shoes. It's because I am used to running my boats offshore and it's not very comfortable or safe in my opinion (broken ankle etc) to run a boat offshore without shoes on. I don't trash my stuff either, it's what I'm used to and some would find that sacrilegious.

On the flip side, I see some people complain and don't use the sink, microwave etc. because they paid so much for their new boats. It's a shame...if you bought it and paid for the option, use it.

But this is just me and I don't hold it against anyone else what their preferences are.

Now back to OL vs. AT.... Two very different boats and in my opinion not the same target buyers.

At this price level, most of these boats are custom built. You are buying the experience rather than the boat. Don't load it up with options if you're not going to use the amenities.

That's hysterical!!!

It's nasty but my kids drop dueces in my toilet all the time... It's kinda hard to tell a 4 and 6 year old to hold it in for 6 hours when you're rafted up in a remote place. One day, when they're old enough I'll tell them "no nuggets" but for now there's not much I can do about it...

If someone doesn't want to buy my boat because of that history so be it! lol

For me it really depends on where/how you use your boat. I boat on inland lakes so a place to get out of the sun for a while, have sexy skank time, and pass out for a night are all that's really necessary. If I were boating somewhere with the option of longer/more remote trips like Florida, the great lakes, or the Puget sound a cabin with the ability to sleep more comfortably and prepare food other than soggy cooler sandwiches would be a huge plus.

Here in CT and Long Island it is all bar hopping, going to restaurants, etc.. but wherever anybody goes, there is always a dock. Rarely, and I mean very rarely do people raft up and anchor somewhere to hang out for the day. Also, most of the people I know return to their home port at night unless it is a holiday weekend. Up here we think nothing of running 40 miles to Block island, hang out, and run 40 miles back in the same day.

My personal preference is get to the marina, flush the boat, clean it, grab your luggage, go to your air conditioned hotel room, shower, get dressed, have a good dinner, and go out for the night.

MonkeySea2 01-24-2014 12:43 PM

I for one prefer a loaded, roomy cabin. Sleeping on the boat is awesome, and, as stated above, is part of the adventure of boating. I have a vacuflush porcelain toilet in my boat and a holding tank. The poor guy at the marina has to pump out the crap. So when the kids need to drop a duece, it doesn't bother me---that's why I got the full head unit! I have friends use my head sometimes while rafted up. I'm not crazy about that, but whatever. I don't mind my own kids in there but not crazy about other folks!:) The people who use it have their own boats but don't want to have to dump their porta pottie!!!
