Back to the top, since this subject came up again!

First boat: 16' Fabuglas (honest) bowrider with an 85 Suzuki, soon replaced by a 115 Mariner. Ran right at 60 with a hydraulic jackplate. Hull was so thin that you could "oil can" it with your thumb... Still - it got me started! :D

X-Rated30 06-20-2001 04:26 PM

I think I may win the "Most Ambitious First Boat Award".

First boat (age 31): 1984 Scarab S-Type (30') w/ twin 454/425hp and Kaama surface drives.

Current boat (age 33): Same, but new engines going in. Still 425 hp, but better design.

Still, changing to the new setup has been somewhat of a challenge. The second engine went in yesterday, and I quit working on it at 9:30 last night -- not because it was finished, but my throat hurt from yelling obscenities.

Occupation: IRS Agent (O.K. I'm really an attorney, but people like IRS agents better.) ;) :D

O.K. 7yrs old 6' raft.
10yrs old, made dad drive me to the lumber store baught 2, 4x8' sheets of plywood, my own saw, a box of 500 roofing nails and a tube of calk. 2 days later and no more calk or nails:confused: the little masterpiece was done.I made one paddle voyage across the pond and didn;t make it back. To this day I have no idea where the water came from but it came fast:D I think all the nails weighed it down. anyways after that I stopped building race boats.lol. Now I have a 24' Excalibur Offshore 2 seater. its old but I love it. I'm 22 and am a wholesale parts rep by career, but for real money i am a mechanic/construction any any other side job that brings the cash:D :D :D :D

Ratchet 11-14-2002 09:52 PM

Here goes

First boat..............

In 1994 (20 yrs old), my uncle gave my brother & I 1980 starcraft fishmaster (aluminum) with a 140 hp merc on it. The floor was rotted in some places, steering was frozen, and it hadn't run in years. Anyways, a little work to everything but the motor (that just started right up after sitting all that time), and is still running today,we have it up north & do some salmon fishing with it.

This started it all, cause some guy in an older baja was being a smart a$$ & asked if we had enough motor on it......well lets just say, later that evening we saw him again, and with the lake as smooth as it was he had no comments at the dock later that evening - lol

Current boat: 1994 31 ft scarab

Boat for Sale: 1985 wellcraft Nova II, no engines (hope I don't get nailed on this)

racesdad 11-14-2002 10:01 PM

My first real boat was purchaced for $100 and found out it was an expiermental hydro for j&e with atou jack plate.I had a 75 merc and it ran over 70 mph.someone stole it!!!! i loved that boat:(

BattleCry 11-15-2002 12:48 AM

I don't know what it was!LOL I bought it for 20bucks and a case of Bud Light. It was an aluminum 18ft V-hull with a 90 horse Merc old-style hood. Floor and bootom were soft. I figured what the ****. I scrapped the aluminum for cash. Traded the outboard for a dirt bike and built a motorcycle trailer out of the trailer. I thought it was a hell of a deal. Now I'm looking for another boat.

1978 19' Checkmate Convincor. Merc 260 IO, it was a little rocket..............in flat water that is. In light chop, it went from the little rocket to the boobie shaker :D :D :D . In heavy chop, women would hold their breasts and give me a look like........Slow down you SOB.
It was time for a upgrade when I noticed my boobies shaking:)
