Ancient History
Man, a Winner? Haven't heard that name in a million years!
My first boat was a freebee that came along with the 1964 17' wooden Thompson my dad bought in 1971. The boat was in storage at Higgins Lake, and when we got there it turned out to be a 12' mahogany plywood Switzer with a 35hp Johnson. It had twin cockpits so you drove from the back seat. Second boat: 16 ft Wriedt Spoiler (Checkmate knockoff) w/ a 135 hp Evinrude = 60 mph w/ SST prop. Wannabe |

We had all the Mastercrafts because the dealer was a personal friend of the family (and my mother, brother, and me worked there). We also skiied on a waterski team in the summer months(we were living in upstate NY at the time). The first boat I have owned myself is the powerquest, the others were our families. We still have the 1998 Mastercraft, and it is for sale if you know anyone interested. |

First Boat was a ex Salton Sea marathon racer known as "Lil Honker" (custom by Glastron). Originally powered by a Weber carbed Ford 427 with individual tube headers and a V-drive. It was a low profile deep V with a small delta pad. I understand that it was quite a handful during races: major chine walker.
Current boat is a Chris Cat that has been almost totally redone. Powered by a pair of blown 572s. Great boat! We own a commercial real estate brokerage and I am also the Director of Sales & Leasing-Real Estate at the Texas Motor Speedway. |

The first boat I ever spent any real time in was my dads 12ft aluminum with a 1955 Johnson 10hp (light green)Put TONS of hours on that boat. I was about 9 yrs old. There was a pack of about 4 or 5 of us kids all with similar boats bombing around the lakes "kicking ass" :D in those days . My boat was rated for a 7.5 so with a 10 it was "over rated".........also quite cool in the day.;)
MY first real boat was an 88 201 Four Winns Liberator with a 350 and a King Cobra. Never gave me an ounce of trouble sold it for $2500 more than I paid for it 2 years later. Really miss that big, built in, insulated cooler in the "glove box" position in the port dash. super handy. more manufactures could learn from that one............Doug |

1962 wooden pram 8ft with oars 2nd was a hydro with an 9hp johnson
3rd a 1964 Donzi 16. Then the rest was history! Performance boating was in my blood. |
14' Lund fishing boat with oars, then 6hp outboard, after that came a 9.9 outboard followed by a 25 outboard. I then traded it for a 16' Lund with a 35 outboard with big mud flaps off the back to keep the water from splashing in as you back trolled. All this took place from 1973-1976. Damn I'm old.
