I'll throw my vote in for the V1. I have one of the very first units they ever built. It's been updated about 4 times since I bought it - by Valentine. Great unit. As for Laser, you're pretty much screwed with any detector.
I don't depend 100% on my detector while on the road though. I always make sure I have somebody out in front of me - to get caught first.

My first V1 was stolen, I then got at the time the top of the line escort, didnt like it, still have it, went back to a V1. Have noticed in some states, OH, KY, that some officers are still running X band! Laser and insta on can still get ya if you are the only one on the road, common sense and learning to read the detector play a major part. I rarely go more than 10 over if that on the highway, but I still use the V1 on road trips.

Just downloaded Waze too.looks very promising for all the state police we have here. They just love to hide in the median strip.I hope there are a few friends reporting on the side roads, thats were I seem to get in trouble.

hated Phuchkin Ohio when I used to drive back and forth to Michigan back in the days,
I would leave Fl at 6pm and run straight thru. Georgia .Tennesee and Kentucky 90 to 110 the whole way in the middle of the night traveling in packs.. Hit Ohio mid afternoon the next day and the speed limit was 55 and a state boy every mile.
Phuckin painful when all you wanted to do was get in a bar with your buds and kill a few and hit the sack for 12 hours,
Felt like you were going backwards at 55 after running that hard for 6 hours.
Never got a ticket in 4 years running until I bought a Escort detector and than almost lost my license within 1 year relying on it.

Escort 9500, Escort Live, AND Waze. The arrows on the V1 don't do anything for me. I understand radar very well and can interpret the signals I get from the escort better than the V1 arrows. I like the Live feature, kinda like waze does. So with both (when I'm "moving") I get a pretty good picture of what's going on. The 9500 lets me customize the detector enough to make it quite useful.
Waze out here is insanely awesome. With all the users, it's not only great for the unwanted roadside delay, but since it sees so much real-time traffic speeds, the nav function on it is amazing.

This got me pulling my 43 BT on I-70 a few years ago. I argued that I wanted to see the radar but was explained the plane was checking my trap speed. I won't say what I was clocked at due to the fun police on OSO
, however it was significantly higher than my peers that day I was informed....

I had a scanner years ago (like 15+) that monitored police bands and beeped when it was near your location and then let you listen in. They were "trunking" their calls, meaning it would rotate bands regularly and it was tough to follow a single call in a busy area. It was called a Bear Tracker......pretty sure they are illegal now.

Don't ya just hate picky bastards?
