i used to wash my boat in the Spring and give it a good wash in the fall when i lived up in Michigan.
I spent the last 25 years making my living with boats in Florida.. You wash them every night when you get home. or they are filthy the next day because of the salt residue.
Regardless.
We never flushed the motors.because after 10 years we never noticed any difference if they were flushed or not.
The risiers are shot after 2 years the manifolds after 4 . After 4 years the blocks are on the edge. If you use them every day than you will fare better.
Its not necessarily the blocks over all that go bad it is the mating surfaces such as the intakes and the heads.
I have removed raw water cooled 454- 330s with 4000 hours that ran like a Swiss watch after 4 years The mating surfaces were shot..
25 years making a living with this crap I have seen it all.

I was talking with a buddy yesterday (former owner of 2 Powerplays as well other offshore stuff) and he still lives on the water and has an empty lift. He said for all the hassle of his last 38, he is ready for another go fast but this time it has to be outboards and he loves the new 320 Monte Carlo from Nortech (someone in the area has one on a lift).
