Most of my neighbors at our lake house have pontoons. Everythings all good as long as they travel a couple miles from the launch then tie up in a cove. Now, mention we want to take a longer cruise, say 20-30 miles and they all whine! "It's too far! It's too rough! It takes too long!" I'll go to a toon when my wheelchair won't fit on the boat!!!!

SB, is that a pontoon, or a "poon-toon"?

I have never been to LOTO would love to go someday, but my boat when up on "plane" handles 3ft just fine, I think it actually handles them better then most 20 and under bow-ride. I understand that 3ft are small but the "big" lakes that I have been on that's a good wave.

I dont come to this site to convince people to buy a toon, I come here to learn and figure out what kinda of speed boat I want to buy next, that way I can have the best of both worlds

LOTO is different than most lakes. Those 3 footer are real, but unlike "big" lakes, they come at you from all directions! 2 50ft cruisers side by side coming up the channel will make all but the biggest ballers slow down!!!

The 3 logged pontoon boat is the ride of choice for many people @ LOTO.....they seem to have taken the place of the envision bow riders and
other large single engine boats, even the 29 outlaw single that Big Thunder use to sell.

A few of my friends have Playcrafts that I've rode on and they get around fine....the key is having one with the large diameter tubes.

Saw a earlier post abought towing a toon vs a v hull, yep big time. I get far better mileage hauling my 26' Spyder with bbc then pops little toon with 45hp merc, 65 mph with dodge 5.9 cummins . This gives me great idea.
