Had an 07 32 SS for 3 years. Power was the 496 HO package. I had many of the same concerns around maintenance as well as a significant difference in insurance cost with 525's. 496's will run longer, with proper maintenance, without needing major overhauls. I was fine running 82-83 top speed. Most of your time is spend cruising anyway. If I lived anywhere near water now I would buy the Sunsation again in a heart beat.

Look at where you boat , do you overnight on it , what do you tow with , are you going to tow all the time and get gas on land, the fountain I was in had a tank on both sides so the gas stopped sucked because you had to get to both sides of the boat at the pump.

Sunsation for me! I'd be hard pressed to make a decision on the next boat. 36 sunny or 37 at
I think fountains are great boats. However, so many mo mo's on here talk like they're breaking water in the Atlantic daily. Honestly, I've come to find they've accumulated knowledge merely from reading. That's ok. I do it too. But don't disparage a boat you know nothing about.
This pissing game merely exemplifies ignorance.

I'll mostly boat on Lake Cumberland in KY. Not sure if I'm pulling it in and out yet. Some of the quotes I've gotten for slips were a little more than I want to spend so most likely I'll be pulling in and out and put it in storage somewhere down there. Hadn't thought of the tanks on both sides, that does sound like a pain in the arse. I might stay on it a few nights a year, I don't expect it to happen often.

One good thing reading this thread, nobody has canned either boat! Everyone has their own preference and that's normal but both boats would be a good ride.
You've narrowed it down to 2 boats, stick with that. They're both great so stick with that and go look at a couple. Build quality and performance will be argued forever by both sides so it's a safe bet that both will actually perform well and hold up. Different load and different drivers could make the difference when you are looking at 1 or 2 mph. Will that bother you? I doubt it.
Look at both and go with your heart. You are going to love either one.
One member has said refresh 525's top end at 250 hours and bigger work at 500 hours. Sounds expensive to me. Go with the 496 ho's for reliability and lower maintenance.

I had a 98 hp500 that destroyed itself at 220 hours. Went with a 496 in last boat. 800 trouble free hours. Sold last year still running strong. Wanted to turn key and go boating.
This is only my experience, yours will be different.

fasthawk6 gave some examples and was wrong so I replied to correct him,,because Sunsation and Fountain both count the swim platform on LOA. sorry if you thought that was a pissing game,,
correct me if I am wrong but,,I dont see any mo mo,s (your words) on here claiming they go out on their Fountains and tear the Atlantic apart...
