The buoy images came out this afternoon. I have been trying to find credible news sources that are talking about the images, but so far I haven't been able to.

I really hope they were smart enough to be wearing jackets. I know the statistics are dwindling but a slim chance is better than no chance.

Don't want to be a doomsdayer but I always say, hope for the best and allow for the worst.

Given the worst possible outcome, Make sure we all learn from this event and equip ourselves and our kids with more knowledge and the right safety gear to prevent anything like this in the future.

I truly believe that most mishaps at sea could have been prevented with a little more education and a few more simple safety measures.

I am still hoping for some good news because I love boating and I love people.

There are only so many things you can do to 'control' and 'safeguard your (especially male) teenagers. All you can do is all you can do. From there, hope for the best.

And yes, I can say this from experience. Unfortunately, I've been in several circumstances where all of us did not come back.

Stories like this do break your heart.

Copied this from THT.

those that do do
and those that don't live on facebook and play video games
i got a lot of respect for these boys
they have lived more in the past week than the general public ever will
i hope they are found but if not they're parents should be proud
they had the guts to live

All good and everything but I would hate to know I died due to the lack of a $300 epirb/plb.....

BTW one of the granddad's owned the biggest tackle/boating shop in town.......

There are a lot of reasons why these two kids shouldn't have died.

Best thing we can do, as we move forward, is learn from this. It is amazing how two 14 year old boys just taught a boating community full of adults around the country of what to bring with them for every single boat outing. How many people were really talking about PLBs/EPIRBs or what to pack into a "ditch bag" before last weekend? Not many! How many of us had one before this, how many will now have one?

Their parents/grandparents will have the weight of doubt/choices/actions around their necks for the rest of their lives.
