Dyno:

We have started Dyno testing the engines. The plan is to try several different turbo sizes and ratios to get the best drivability/spool up, and gas mileage. In the end we do not care about trying to get the most power the engine could make because they are making over 3000 hp with these engines, but to get an engine that will live at a high hp. My goal was 1000 hp continuous at 3300 rpm so we are pretty much there already.

In this video we set the Dyno to hold at 3000 rpm and it's making 970 hp and 1700 ftlb of torque. The intercooler water fitting on the Dyno is about 1/4 the size of what I will have in the boat so in the boat the intake air temp will be lower and I will have unlimited supply of cold water instead of heating up the water in there tank. Right now after the long pulls the water is boiling in there intercooler water tank.
I will post more videos this afternoon.

Awesome! 1000hp just humming along.

How do do you have the time to keep posting informative info and work on the boat?

Finding a dyno setup to supply enough water to dissipate that HP/Torque level engine, and the brake for extended periods, is not as easy as one might imagine. But I do like the way you think...

Nice work Tyson. Few little mods and your on the water.

Great numbers at those revs, looking forward to seeing the final setup.
How long has the engine been running on the dyno at that load?

The FASS pump on my boat is great and even picked up 2 mph! Boat also accelerates better. I think my engines with mechanical injection get more help than the modern ones you are using though. You won't run the FASS full-time?

Your EGT's are not bad either at that power level right around 1200 should live for a while. I hope you bought some noise cancelling headsets, those diesels get loud when running hard! Even my little Yanmars make a lot of noise when running fast.

I think it's going to accelerate pretty good.... we will probably actually limit the torque in the programming down to 1650 ftlb to try and get the drives to live.

How are the egts looking? Lowering compression will lower torque and raise hp up top.
