The top is about 30

Looks like about 27-28 ft of boat in the water to me.

Bob "was" a nice guy once upon a time but since the bankruptcy things have changed at Eliminator and not for the best. They have been ripping off vendors, and when fiore passed away they have held onto the molds of the 29. Is that right, or is that wrong? Choose which ever you want bu outer limits wants "their" molds back from Eliminator and good guy Bob isn't giving them up.

I think Peter said when he measured his the running surface was about 26.5 something close to that. Still a cool boat.

Cevert, Simple,,,, you obviously have not had to opportunity to attend/participate in one of the Michigan City SBI events.
Typically all races at SBI are 1 race/day. The 2013 SBI Michigan City Event (13-MC) had a low boat count. Both the SBI officials and the local producer requested to split the single SBI race up for the fans, by allowing the boats to come into the wet pits and then go back out again. The total points for the single race event remained the same at 1,000.

The Fans of local Michigan City Event are amazing, and the host city works hard for the street party, the race event each year, but it was a single race event.
I believe that was also the year that we sold the 30-Fountain SVL to Mike/Frank and spent the first few laps having a great time, but at the end of the single race event the OL-29 won the event.

The highlights of this particular MC-2013 event start at 5:00 on this clip
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj_dkAsuKCs

The MC SBI events are truly a highlight for a mid summer event, and is only a few weeks before the LOTO Shootout

HI!

How can we compare a OL SV29 to a Fountain 29 or Lavey Craft 28?

I rate them as 1. OL SV29 - 2. Lavey Craft 28 and 3. Fountain 29. Only based on what I have read and seen. I have run a Fountain 29, but I rather keep my Phantom 25

It also seems to be a world apart Shuemans and Peter's view of the SV29.

In my view a low profile 29 feet boat will never be more than a sports car, not a condo The selling point was top speed and design.

I enjoy a good yarn.

OL's - OL 29 is resin infused and externally painted - not sure of core material. I've seen OL claim they have an "autoclave", but from what I can tell it's an oven. Hull design from a winning SVL boat.

Lavey 28 Evo - is most often foam cored, vacuum bagged and gel coated. Its really the only other sit down V in the OL's length range that offers that same or very close speed per HP. Hull design from a winning SVL boat.

The Ol is a very fast boat indeed but hard to tell exactly how fast with a merc 600 as its often modified when it is claimed to be stock- As Shueman points out. Im pretty sure that was the boat Dustin Whipple claims he didnt touch (maybe he didnt but someone sure did) maybe its a diff boat. OL does this a lot, they did this in a magazine test of various 40 footer comparison.

The Lavey is also very fast and stable - you wont find any wings mounted on them like Peter did to his boat which i suspect is a byproduct of the Indy more than the OL- It has run in the high 120's. Look at it run with this Nor Tec Cat in Germany. Horrible Vid - but you get the idea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQ9wH9fTu2U

As stated I doubt you'd be spending much time down there but the OL is a "friendlier " and more useable in that you can get to the front through the cockpit, in the Evo its blocked off and you can only get to the bow storage from the outside.

Evo has a canopy and can have several options from open top to removable (like a hard top convertible) to electrically actuated hard top (like an engine hatch only its the canopy top.

Whereas the OL is a windscreen boat.

Shueman can speak to the "Eliminator OL" versions specific layup details.

Fit and finish wise - Peter mentioned he sent his back some sort of paint rework, kind of hard to imagine on a simple 2 tone boat, whereas both Lavey and Eliminator gelcoat work is amazing.

As to the Fountain - not in the same league as any of the above.
