Just out of curiosity. We all know Pantera warrenties there hulls for life even if there raced. What are the warrenties on the other two? And for that matter is there even another boat builder in the country that cover them for life?
;) ;) ;) |
Activator does--or did when i owned one----for thr record-a 22" Activator with the same power WILL and HAS beat a 22" progression with the same power---my buddie owned the progression--I beat his ass for 5 years
|
Wayne,
Did you read the above insertion? See there's always somehting bigger, better, more expensive. You can't win. |
HEY KN... I always knew you were a troublemaker!!! See what you started?!?!?! PANTERA, PROGRESSION, SUPERBOAT... They are all "ADEQUATE" boats...BUT, if you want the REAL leader of the pack in ALL conditions(...FASTEST top end, BEST rough water handling, BEST looking lines, BEST interior seating, COMPLETELY ORIGINAL design, RACE PROVEN pedigree, & just a WAY better boat on ALL counts...) You KNOW you're gonna HAVE to choose the VELOCITY!!! Well...that's all I have to say on the subject...CASE CLOSED>>>>>>>>>>>LATAPOTATAS>>>>>>>
|
wayne you see everyone has a opnion who has the best boat
you know what opinoins are like a-holes everyone has one btw when i had my 24 superboat w/300 hp mercruiser smallblock i spanked more than a few of them progressions:p have a nice weekend jh |
JFM , I dont for one second believe it . never !!!! I have ran against them before and it aint even close !!!!!
|
Hey Jim H,
Last time I saw you, (it may have been the only time I met you face to face) I pulled in behind John's place with my 24' next to yours. How's it going? Randy |
|
HEY JIMH...Was the 300hp MERCRUISER you had in that SUPERBOAT called the 300 TEMPTEST from MERC HIPERF.??? I had 2 of them in a 26 HUSTLER that were positively pieces of ****E!!! That boat was gone before you could say ...VELOCITY!!! HAHAHA>>>>>>>>>>>
|
The only thing you're spank'in with a 300HP small block In a 24super boat is hang'in between you legs I heard new Velocitys come with an extra gal. of resin and some mat. so you can put it back together when it comes apart. Hey Wayne DO YOU HAVE 300 OR A 300X HOW FAST IS IT and no you come here to Jersey where the real water is
|
Yeah, you go to New Jersey, where the real water is, and where the real hypodermic needles wash up, and where Jon Bon Jovi lives, yeah. Take That!

Pantera vs Superboat
1 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone,
A little message to Wayne: You still run your Promax 300? Iam also curious how the 300X can add 9 mph over the older 300. Iam myself buying a new 300X next spring, and if I can get 9 mph more I would faint! I have a Phantom 25 feet offshore rig built in mid 80-ies. They still build their 23 feet version, which is running hard in the european offshore races. The Phantom 25 was a common hull in offshore races in the 80 and 90 ties, and it handle rough seas like a queen. Top speed is 78 mph spinning a Tempest 26 at 6.100 rpms in the spring, and 76 mph at 6.000 rpms in the summer. The boat is a classic 24 degree hull with a 5,5 feet beam. It runs 60 mph at 4.500 rpms which is very effective, however, its bow heavy at wot. The total weight is approx. 2.500 pounds with engine and 1 person. I use 7,5 inch setback, CMC powerlift, and the prop is 2.25 inch below. Torquemaster lowerunit. My point is that old constructions often run very vell despite "new" inventions such as nothed transoms, pads, stepped hulls, etc. Good luck boating! Cheers, Toffen G - Norway |
24 DEEP V
Being an owner of two Pantera 24s in the past I am a little one sided. But did see a JAWS 24 on a trailer one time with a 502 in it looked pretty nice any know how this boat handles if you put it up against a Pantera , Superboat . ?

Man you guys are all acting like children over hear!!!!! Last I checked this was a comparison of Pantera vs. Superboat. There is a reason for that and if you do not understand why then you should do your research and find out. You guys are all saying you have the bad ass boat of the year. I mean why don't I just toss Skater into the mix and you all can watch Shanes transom!!! In the rough stuff more often then not it is the driver NOT the boat. My 1979 30 foot Formula went past a 2001 38 foot Formula Twin step this year. Why, Simple I knew how to drive and the other guy did not.
Like Eddie I have raced in a 30 foot Superboat Tempest and I can tell you that after years the boat was still VERY solid. Sure there is no core on the side but a lot of boats are built that way. Different strokes for different folks. Lets get back to the subject at hand and compare the two boats (PANTERA and SUPERBOAT) not all the others. Jon Jon |
My 1979 30 foot Formula went past a 2001 38 foot Formula |
You may think it only does 50 but it does go faster and it with style and class one of these days you may actually know what that is all about. If I want to go fast I have a number of other boats I can go in that will destroy speed wise any of the above boats that have been discused. Tell then you will bicker and put others and their product down to make you feel better about the things you own. Great.   Still goes with out saying that the issue is Superboat Vs Pantera, NOT all the others. I hate it when people can not stay on topic. None of these other boats should have been mentioned as it is off the topic at hand. If you want to start a thread about your boats then that is fine but that is now why this thread was started.
Jon |
I can't speak for the 24, but my 30 is through bolted, glassed and has balsa core in the bottom and foam core in the deck, It is 29'10" long and weighs 4650 rigged and runs 79, 80.5 down hill.

Well why dont you take your own advice and stop talking about your Formula. And what does a catamaran like Skater have to do with it? I think you made yourself feel better by saying your boat could beat the pants off any of the others mentioned in this thread. |
Pantera vs Superboat
Nuff Said:D
|
All three boats are nice boats, The Superboat and Progression has a lot more Freeboard and is better in rough water then the Pantera. I own a 26 Donzi so I am speaking from a neutral corner. Running in a lot of Poker Runs with my 80mph 22ZX then in my new boat that needs a Supecharger has made me watch other hulls run! There are other boats in the 24=25 range (My advice is.. If your are going to buy one? Run one in rough water. Not on a lake or calm bay.

Fever Mike,
My mistake about the Skater. But look at this: "My 1979 30 foot Formula went past a 2001 38 foot Formula Twin step this year. Why, Simple I knew how to drive and the other guy did not". That's what I really meant. It's like talking out of both sides of one's mouth. His argument would have been better taken if he hadn't even mentioned his Formula. But with that said, he and you have a good point. It is about Superboat and Progression, or was it Pantera, I can't remember. :o :o |
Wayne your right-I made it all up-I actually only have a 12' dingy and was racing a guy on an inner-tube--I raced my boat in NPBA--but from the insite your giving you must have some resume--world champ-or atleast national champ right?--go read some more books/brochures--I remember the progression brochure said the boat would go 80mph with a 2.5--sure it would-just like it would go by an activator--everybody's got a dollar and a dream
|
rtaylor: My point about my Formula beating another is that my Formula should be about 15-20 mph slower then his in just about any condition. My point is that the driver more often then not can make a boat go faster if they know what they are doing. Put Joey Impressia (sp) in the same boat as you or I and his boat will go faster in almost any condition. WHY??? Because he is one of the best. The reason the issue was continued beyond that was that Don99 felt the need to slam my boat implying that it would fall apart at 50... Well almost 25 years later and she is still strong as the day she was new :D:D
My point is that if you want to talk about my boat is faster then yours and all that BS then why just stop at the other boats that have been mentioned? Why not bring REAL fast boats like Skater and the alike into the mix? I mean lets face it in the sceam of truely fast boat, these baot are all dogs including mine. Again there is a reason that the two of these boats (Superboat and Pantera's) are being compared. It has NOTHING to do with top speed vs. other models like Progresions or Velocity or anything like that. This is a great example of a thread that started out and had prommis to be a great one, but gets ruined because it gets so side tracked with BS that no one that has any TRUE info on the comparison of the two boats or the history of the hulls will even chime in. Jon |
Audiofn,
Thanks for clearning that up, especially without getting silly like a lot of us on this thread. Randy |
No problem man I just was really excited to get a little more inside info on were these hulls came from and the history of the molds and since they are both splashed from the same molds (as I understand it) how people feel that the two manufacturers differ from one another. Then it gets side tracked with all the other manufacturers and a total pissing match. I am sure that they owner of Pantera (who is on the board) would NEVER think to reply on this thread now due to all the bickering. Oh well maybe we can start it all over again it is just a shame.

|
By the way I think Wayne and Misty shacked up for the weekend. (thats a joke too)
|
Don , I think you should go back and read my original post , and what boat do you have ?
JFM I see you must be a know it all cause you race , what is that again NPBA , IS THAT LIKE THE APBA ? anytime you want to come to New York I would be glad to give you a ride in the 24 progression at 87 mph .I will bet you anything that there is not a 22 activator that will pass the 22 progression, anywhere anyhow . But I guess you have dreams also. |
i know of a 21 superboat that would spank any 22 progerssion!!
just ask joey impressia how fast his 21 superboat is, i herd he was doing 93 with a 300 idont know if it is a X or not while iam on the subject joe could get any boat he want's what is his personal boat of choice, a SUPERBOAT !!! jimh |
Always heard good things about Joey Impressia..... :D
|
See Jim H your flapping you gums again , i am very good friends with joey and his boat runs great with the 300x high 90s . But the 22 progression that had the 300x on it was running 101 gps , and i know you wont believe me so you can call charlie tseauro or sick nick who also clocked him at that speed . better yet call joey and ask him . you pud !!
|
Don99: since you asked my Formula currently goes 60 mph with average set up (couple people, and average fuel). I beleive and I can not remember for sure, PhantomCaos's boat (383 with 500efi's and boxes) same set up as this guys boat runs in the high 70's. Believe me when I tell you the guy was trying. He is the one that came along side and asked for the race.
That being said I am glad to see that you guys have succeeded in KILLING this thread. I am sure you are all proud of yourselves I am out.  |
wayne there no need for name calling.
like audiofn iam done with this thread |
good !
|
Wayne-you sound like a guy who has a friend that has a progression, maybe even an older brother-to get so passionate over what you think is real makes me think that--have you ever been in an activator-if not don't talk out your back-side--I have run with a 22' progression in L.I. sound every weekend for 5 years--I live 2 miles from NY--maybe you can borrow your brothers boat so we can see that 87mph--I'll bring my hand held gps
|
Wayne I don't own a boat but I once saw a Banana boat on a trailer it looked really cool man cool. By the way stop being such name dropper I read powerboat too:p
|
Seems to me, this thread (started by KN), was to get informed opinions, comments, & critiques regarding the 24' SUPERBOAT vs 24' PANTERA ?!? Personally, I've never met a SUPERBOAT or a PANTERA that I didn't like. BOTH companies make a great boat & have been around a long time... BOTH companies have a strong & loyal following (obviously!)... BOTH companies have an enviable offshore racing history. What's NOT to like about either company? It still comes down to KN making his own decision based partly on your opinions & other info, but it will still be KN's decision ONLY & his reasons ALONE. I think all those other boat names that popped up are fine boats, but the question was SUPERBOAT vs PANTERA, NOT the pissing contest this topic seems to have turned into. If you want, I'll start a NEW thread...WHY (your favorite boat name here) is so much better/faster/made/etc. than that POS (other boat name that you hate here). Actually, I said that as a joke but, it might just be a winning thread! KN, good luck with your decision, you can't lose either way!!!
|
Anytime you want to go for a ride on the 24 progression with the 300x let me know, I will set it up . like I said mine is not as fast but I dont have an x on it.. p.s how am I name dropper , just stating the facts , cause I know none of you guy would believe those speeds .
|
I have never rid in any other 24 foot boat. But my 24 pantera is solid as a rock, I dont think you can break it, given that, i do love to go fast so i would like to have my motor in a lighter boat but when it comes to ocean running and wave launching a solid boat sounds better to me.
We should test each boat with a sledge hammer against the transom :lolhit: |
