Too Old,
Your welcome at my dinner table anytime. Yes, we do plan on returning to the racing circuit. Utilizing the latest technology and applying it to our standards we will be stronger and faster than ever. |
My question is does Apache plan to build something that will compete in todays racing? |
So when the history is in your favor you accept Mcmanus built boats? Other than that they are resin buckets? Am I seeing a double standard or am i just misinformed again.
I just can't keep this lineage straight.... |
SPWILSON,
One in the same. He also ran J&H Electric. Rumor (I don’t generally quote rumor) has it that the factory told him to stop racing the competition or else. Too Old, Our posts must have overlapped, read up a few. And you are 100% right. Win on Sunday, sell on Monday. |
I don't know, I am asking that exact question, were these all built by Bob? I didn't think JH or Ceasers was, but I would like to know.
|
And now that I look I may be wrong and I'm sorry if I am. But, I think the Kid boat was at least a Mcmanus boat .

Can someone please answer the question of who built what.
|
Zoomnfun,
Respectfully again, this is not about who built what. Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Roger Rabbit or Who Gives a ……. Point I made is that Apache Powerboats have won more than previously stated. Period. And in who’s favor? Apache’s favor. PS – Roger Rabbit is my favorite. Too Old, No problem, food is my religion. Lets eat. |
Ok, but, it has been made very clear by Steve1 and others that his were not accepted into to the real Apache fold as he did not have rites to the name. Some where it was written how he stole the naming rights, never should have built under the name etc. etc. and on and on.
I guess the only real purest I know of then is THE INFAMOUS MAGNUM MARK. From what I am told he refuses to own anything but a Bobby built boat. If I had more time I would go and pull all of Steves quotes in reguard to Mark built boats, pretty scathing stuff. This has been my exact point all along they are ALL GREAT and the history should not be fragmented, as you proved with your list. And it seems all these players were there from the start. I have heard about so much great stuff to come from you guys and look forward to it with great anticipation, can't wait actually. And once again, not trying to prove anything, just trying to keep it all straight. |

And I anticipate with the thought of ownership too!!!
|
Zoomnfun,
We would be happy to welcome you to our tribe and look forward to it some day. Also, MM and Lucy are in the air right now on their way down. I will give them your regards at dinner this evening. |
Eric, thank you for replying and helping me understand. Please give my best to Sean and I will give him a call soon.

B4M, you are the bastage I thought you were, BE NICE HONEY!!!!
|
Zoomfun,
Are you a lawyer or something ... you're always asking questions that you already know the answers to ;) G  |
Really guys, weren't all Cigarettes and Apaches (prior to steps and F2) built with the same techniques and philosophy? Didn't MM & S come from the same school of boat building? I believe CB also carried the same philosophy into the 90's. These were all old school boats. Cigarette made the move towards the newer way of building boats (speed sells) and now S is ready to take that step. It takes a lot of money (r&d), which Cigarette had/has, to perfect the new way (speed) of building boats. Hopefully the guys at Apache will have the staying power (money) to step up to the plate and hit a home run.

G you and I are always in trouble aren't we?

Cigarette made the move towards the newer way of building boats (speed sells) Do you guys (and luci) think that these newer/lighter boats ride the same as the older boats? Do you think a newer Cigarette will "hang" with an older Cig in the rougher waters? |
Have not had ANY experiance with stepped Cigs.
Called Lipship awhile back inquiring about the all white 42 with 900s and 6s. Phil totally discouraged me on that boat vs a new stepped Tiger with less power and bravos. At this point I will still only have and/or consider Speedmaster boats, so no dice for me. For the time being I think my conv bottom Cig is best for me. Love the way it seems to stay hooked up better that the bravo boats, not to mention the failure issues. |
Hey Zoom..I`ve seen your cig several times on the lake and on the cops runs....Nice! What year is it and what do you have for power and drives?...................Roger 1
|
Thanks Roger,
94 650 and 3A's |
Again, very nice boat Zoomnfun!

The previous owner is a NEAT and DETAIL FREAK to say the least, b4m can offer an opinion if he wishes to.
He is the only guy I know that you have on your boat and he asks to the try and be more considerate of the boats mint condition.....hahaha. As a guest he also takes over ALL the cleaning tasks, we are very lucky to have it. Of course the real gift is a wife that supports any mods that make the go faster, she hates to lose races. Thanks guys, nice of you to say. |
TooOld - you should know, you have one of the REAL Cigarettes that set their standards back then! In my opinion, many of todays boats wouldn't last in true offshore racing...for instance, the Cigarette "Yachts International" |
Originally posted by Zoomnfun The previous owner is a NEAT and DETAIL FREAK to say the least, b4m can offer an opinion if he wishes to. I think present owner is a freak too...you bilge monkey! Your the only wack i know that uses detail spray back there.:p And as for that "650" number.......... |
Originally posted by SPWilson QUESTION: Do you guys (and luci) think that these newer/lighter boats ride the same as the older boats? Do you think a newer Cigarette will "hang" with an older Cig in the rougher waters? Totally different experience. I felt comfortable enough in one to where we could have gone 10 mph more with no issues. The other had a serious Pucker Factor. :D :D :D I've ridden in a Tiger TS (575hp/Bravo) at close to 85 mph in 4-6 footers with Neil behind the wheel(yeowee!!!) and have driven a Tiger(900hp/#6/10.5k#) at 95 mph. Although the non-stepped run was in relatively calm water, it felt like Butta Baby. :D :D :D |
I am just trying to take Magnums advice and keep anything from spawning in bilge water......lots of cleaning solvents yaknow..
And for the record, Tanner is way worse than me about engine area detail.....although now that I think about it, he doesn't do it at every fuel stop like I do........as the previous owner says to me often "Dean you are such a stroke" I've had fun today guys........see ya Dean |
whats wrong with being a neat freak?

Very pretty!;)
BTW...the poll shows cig in the lead again. |
I vote Cigarette, .....no, Apache,...no Cigarette, ....no Apache,....no.......ah what the hell I'm from Florida and we tend to screw up the votes!!!
|
I see a great future in modeling...
|
Zoom
The reason I don't wax my engines at the fuel stop is I have to lay on the hatches to put fuel in the boat :p . Then by the time I'm done fueling ya'll are ready to ride again :p . Last trip, everything was fine in the bilge except for the constant anti-rust being dispursed. Robert |
Yes. yes...should I share Scotty's comments about you and those hatches?
Sorry about the phone deal, I'll call as soon as I can!!! Dean |
:D Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, go ahead, make fun of me "humpin my hatches" I'll hump yours when I come to Chicago :p
