I found this boat what do you guys think? The wife gave me the ok. I honestly wanted to try and stay with black motors or but this boat is screaming at me. How reliable are these 575s?

Selling my Baja 36 Outlaw Custom. One motor has 90 HRS on it the other is getting rebuilt now. They were originally 500 EFI engines. When rebuilt I had 525 cams put in them, they dynoed out at around 530 HP a side. I also installed two new HD couplers. This spring I installed 575 SCI blowers and throttle bodies. Blowers were rebuilt when I purchased them. Should be around 700 HP now. I also re did both fuel systems to Aeromotive fuel pumps and #10 feed lines and #8 return fuel lines back to tank. Both drives were just rebuilt to a phase 3 and 1/2 by All American Drive Service, they have about 49 HRS on them. The Paint job was done by Mitcher T. Interior was done when paint job was done. There is no dock rash on boat at all. No rips or or cracks in vinyl. Boat is a 9 out of a 10. Boat has not been in salt water. I have all documentation for everything that has been done to this boat. I have all the invoices on engine rebuilds and dyno sheets, drive rebuilds, paint and interior and fuel systems. Boat runs 80 MPH with 28 pitch props and with 30 pitch props runs 82. I run the 28 pitch props in rough water and heavy loads. I run the 30 pitch props in 1 to 2 foot chop and when we are just cruising around. Have cockpit cover, and a full boat cover. Trailer is a 2004 heritage with all new axles converted to electric brakes

Nice

what's your opinion on the motors? they started as 500 efi then he added a 525 cam then the blowers. Its all in the post. I am waiting for him to send me receipts and build sheets. I'm seriously considering this boat so any help suggestions things to ask look out for please help. This is a boat i could see keeping and not needing to upgrade just take care of it do proper maintenance and enjoy.

They are relatively low boost, did he have the ECM’s reflashed?

The stock 575 tune isnt too good

If they ever need injectors they can be pretty tough to find but I believe Eddie Young makes a set up to replace the rochester throttle bodies

Im not sure I will ask?

Is it as easy as buying a tuner and doing it or is there more to it. My SXS my diesel all have tunes.

There isn’t a hand help tuner like what you described, you need MEFI burn installed on a laptop or
have someone that has it do it, you’ll also need a tune for it ( someone that has done the same setup before). or have O2 sensors installed in the tailpipes and have someone tune it on the water.

Both boats are pretty sharp,
My only knock on the fountain is the drives and the power they’re behind, SC’s still use the sh!tty XR gears in them
which have problems on anything over 499 HP. . And the seem to be on perpetual back order if you end up needing them.

I had a 33 outlaw, I’m more partial to them, the 36 doesn’t really do anything better than the 33,
they’re a great all around boat, the big cockpit is hard to beat if you‘re hauling around people

If the paper work pans out on these Id lean towards this 36........I dont think you want to get into big HP blower engines in the fountain they can be problematic and you might be in the shop more than on the water,
I think the 36 would make you a nice boat and will have way more room............

ok thank you. So in your opinion is this something I should do if it’s not done?

I would be fine with a 33 just haven’t found the right one.

I have one more question for you So far all the fountains I’ve looked at seem to be wet. This boat i. shared I got a call from a guy that flew to GA to look at it and he said it was wet. He then said he has 5k in surveys from wet fountains. Im not trying to start a brand war just curious. He flat out told me to look at Bajas that tend to be dry? What ever boat I buy will have a survey.

Ok plus We love the paint job on this boat. I just want to be sure I’m not buying unreliable power. I do not care about top speed. At least for now. When my Buisness grows more and my pockets get deeper then we might be talking about some crazy FU Money Power🤪

The stock tune runs pig rich, fouls plugs, has weird sporadic high idle situations, mine would even have a off idle hiccup and die right off idle, I dealt with it until I had to do head gaskets on them and then decided on other upgrades ( cam, heads ) I also had the ECMs reflashed at the time by the builder who’s
cam and head recipe I used and the difference was night and day all the above mentioned quirks were gone, so If they haven’t been done, I would highly recommend it.
