Why no talk about this guy at the shootout?

I'll tell you the reason it's not a big story, it's because this sport has moved from the everyday boater and boat to the rarified air of bling boats that a tiny fraction of boaters can ever aspire to. Just look at this site 20 years ago and look at it today, 1/4 the traffic, stories like this used to be the norm. I was more interested in how a small shop like Tyler Crockett was going to run his "regular" boat than a million+ dollar exotic machine. I'll have to wait until next year for that. Most of the news today is about delivery of yet another bling boat to the proud new owners...ZZZZzzzzz. It's gotten so expensive that many are squeezed out. If I hear a big block boat on the water anymore it's a festive occasion. I'll take these stories any day. Sorry for the rant but this sport hasn't changed for the better IMO.

1300 hp each
I remember watching his plain white hull
He had a porpoise a bit and sort of snuck in
Lots of folks running older boats, and making a show
I prefer watching the v bottoms and cats.
vice the tritoons...
This guy is no slacker
it was impressive seeing lower dollar machines cut some great times....over and over

There were 3 100mph single engine Vees, 2 velocities and a fountain. Find out what’s in em and talk about it.

Everyone whines about this every year. Fix it by talking about the small guy boats and contenders instead of whining. Or take your boat and document it for us.

They did cover the guys with the red fountain before. And Tristan interviewed them on the live shootout broadcast.

More readership doesnt translate to more advertising anymore? I don`t know how all that has changed or works but the little guy isn`t represented anymore in Speed on the water .If they were maybe more hits and views because no one cares about what some guy wrote a check for his million dollar boat .. snoooze

The journos gotta make the advertisers in their glossy mags happy. Not saying it’s wrong. It is what it is. None of them own a boat themselves that I know of. Maybe they just like catching rides in million dollar boats and rubbing elbows with the millionaires. Automotive journalism is rife with this behavior.
I don’t want to be too hard on them though. No one else is doing it. And I don’t think they’re getting rich off of it.
