I know of 2 companies working on the Duramax diesel engine , BUT, they are talking reliable 500HP not 900HP or 1400HP.
So the key here is how much RELIABLE HP they can do.

I have no idea whether this will work or not, I am just repeating what I have been told by very reliable sources. They are also a little sceptical about it.But this is what the engineers are telling them. The motors have already been dynoed I think. Also this is not a stock duramax.I can't even remember all the custom pieces GM has built to help with the reliablity but it is a lengthy list. 900hp doesn't seem like that much of a .stretch to me considering how well people are upgrading the stock motors and given the twin turbo's and 5000RPM limit. But as I said I don't know anything about diesels other than I love my dually and I like the idea.

I am curious if these new performance diesels are going to or not already running on an industrially produced biodiesel from DOW or one of the other Large companies producing a Biodiesel mix commonly found in europe? LIKE a B2 diesel mix.(B2=2% biodiesel mixed into regular diesel) If you guys have any insite or info I'd love to learn more. Could this be the motivation for a higher performance standard and possibly a trend shift to diesel powered racing in the near future?

I dont see how a diesel can turn 5,000 rpm's. Too much recripricating mass. Also I dont think the fuel will burn fast enough. It would have to be some real trick fuel injection maybe dfi or something like that.

It would be cool.

the injection system is quite trick.. this isn't standard truck duramax stuff, probably shouldn't even call it a duramax at this point....

and they have already raced diesels in the past in UIM in cats with multi-speed gearboxes..

I was aware to a limited extent, You know almost all of the larger sportfishing vessels are Pushed by diesels, and 45-50 knots is becomming standard in sport fishing yachts 65ft Viking, it used to be 18-25knots not too long ago. Which is pretty impressive speed considering the weight of those sport fishing boats. But by trend shift I meant in all aspects of good old amerian racing like NASCAR and all. ASide from that I would like to know where I can read and get some inside info on the offshore diesel racing scene?

Why not the 480 ? What about multispeed trannies ?

Interesting he took an outboard boat and converted it.

I was thinking of the talon, I forgot about the skater.

Is that the one ? If so was it a 32 ?
