I built 4 of these 40' Mirages (35/38 cigarette, 36/41/ apache family narrow beam hull) with triple yanmar 300hp/bravo packages. So quiet you would only hear the turbo's when on boost, we cruised in the high 50's and topped out at just under 70. I never got a chance to really dial in the boats and play with props/drive heights.

I was thinking of the big inch Duramax I6 until someone mentioned 5,000 rpm's. Anyone know the weight difference?

I saw a show where banks took a D-max and changed some thigs.. not sure what as i only caught the last part but I want to say they were making 750 hp and around 1000lbs, this was from a single turbo. I also wanna say they said something about new rods and pistons, but like i said only caught the last half. It was going in a project truck for the show extreme 4x4 or something. So if Banks can do some of this stuff, I know GM can. I also know a few years back like 99 a couple guys took the older cummins and made 750 and 1000lbs torgue. they were running them in their trucks around town, one of the first to use the semi tires, saw this in 4wheeler mag.
I still like the idea of the d-max or powerstrokes as a marine motor. I am still waiting, and wishing i had the money to do the conversion. Can't wait for more details.

You got any more pics of these?
Does it have any relationship to other Mirages?

There was a high speed diesel boat on ebay about 1 year ago that was located in San Deigo. They were asking opening bid about 100k.

Yes there is a relationship, we are the original Mirage builder of 26,29,32,36. I'll post some more pics of our boat from the office in the morning. Here's one I have at home.

Nice looking Mirages!
I used to own a 26' Mirage. It was a low profile and looked a lot like the Eliminator SS,with a 21 or 22 degree hull. I really took a beating when Lake Michigan kicked up. About 8 years ago I saw a for sale add for a 36' Mirage with twin Panter jets. It looked a lot like your boat. Was that one of yours?
How did that perform?

Was that the Cougar with twin Sea Teks? I've seen that for sale before on yachtworld. Always thought it would be a great combo.
