I think I might just buy an old dodge truck and start from there, beacuse some of the 5.9 blocks that are out of china are junk.... and those are the cheap ones. a 12Valve without all the computer crap is probably the best in a boat and a lot less headaches getting it to run Ernie |

Is that the same PPE that engineers the chips/tuners for the duramax's. Any idea when they might go into production.

Question: Did you use the 6LY3-ETP (480HP) motors in your new boat, and did you modify them at all? Was not sure if/how well they could be tweaked in a marine application vs. what you can do in a truck. |

The 5.9L Cummins weighs less than a gasoline big block and they make STUPID power for comparatively little money spent. $5000 extra will get you at least 800hp and 1600ft lbs torque. The Weismann #6 Diesel Drive is rated to handle that much power.
http://www.weismann.net/wmd.html The Mercruiser Cummins 5.9 inboard weighes 1290 without transmission, while a Mercury Marine Horizon 496 inboard weights 1130 with Velvet Drive transmission. Michael |
