Red face 525SC fuel pump.

Ok, so I am running along with plenty of fuel and I notice, no fuel pressure. I lift the hatch and there is fuel in the clear vent tube from the fuel pump to the flame arrestor. So am I correct to assume that it is a bad fuel pump? If so, do I have to prime the whole system again? There isn't any fuel in the bowls and the whole system was "sucked" dry. What is the best way to prime the system with the new pump. By the way, the new pump is installed, but still reading no fuel pressure. The only time it reads that it has pressure is when I manually fill the bowls through the site plug, and it runs fine until the fuel from the bowls run dry. Your help is GREATLY appreciated. Dave

Fuel in that tube indicates a broken diaphram in the pump. When you replace it, it shouldn't need priming. The pump should suction fine without priming.
Is it a mark 4 engine? If so, did you drop the pump rod out of the block?
If it has the water pump mounted pump, was there any damage?
BTW, fuel will also contaminate the oil when a diaphram breaks, so change it.

It is a 1996 525SC that has the fuel pump connected to the seawater pump. I am wondering if I have to fill the fuel/water seperator filter will fuel also.

I would fill the water sep filter with fuel. It will save a lot of starter cranking.
