Which carbed whipple would you put on a 582" engine. Get a little crazy with the set up and make over 1200HP?

Rob, at 8.7psi, it's nearly all parasitic losses. If there was no intercooler, you would see larger difference because of heat, but the IC helps level the heat field a little bit. Still very different temps, which become incredibly different as boost goes higher. This is why we promote low compression ratio's, you can really take full advantage of the screw compressor and run the boost at 12-14psi on pump gas.

As for IC difference, it depends on which cores, there are multiple Superchiller's out there. The new cores are better than the older ones, in fact, night and day.

Depends on so many factors, there's a bunch of different rotors, housing designs, clearance issues, etc. so it's nearly impossible to say an exact figure, but it would certainly be close with most 1471's. Again, as boost goes higher, the bigger the difference is. Almost all typical roots SC's lose HP after 12-13psi and the gains from 10-12 are negligible (on gas engines). A bigger sc doesn't always work better because the rotor clearances are greater, giving you increased leakage. You can seal that up with teflon, which does not last on any continious rpm application.

Can be done, not advised. SC's need to breath. For 1000hp in marine applications, you need a minimum of 1600cfm, thats the bare miminum. 1800-2000cfm is prefered. After 1300hp, you need roughly 2400cfm.

Single 1050 can make 900hp because it flows more than 1000cfm, but it's still going to be restrictive.

About 1.5" taller than 671/871 and about the length of a 871.

Height could be addressed by machining the bottom of the sc, but one thing we did, that most have not, is that we built a common plenuem area under the SC, giving the air more time and distance to make its turn to the engine. This is where the 1"+ came from.

It's not too hard to make 1200+hp. On a carbed 582, then the 305R is the SC, same as AJ's. With good parts, low compression, 12psi will easily make over 1200. Were seeing typically 1250+ with 12psi, hydr. roller camshaft, pump gas.
